Am I Missing Something? Please Help

When I try to play OOTP in General Manager mode and to 'team control' settings the drop down menus for 'Setting Lineups & Depth Charts" and "Setting Pitching Staff" is greyed out.

I want to play as the general manager but I also want to set my lineups and my pitching staff.

How can I set this up? The drop downs did not used to be greyed out.

You must play in "General Manager + Manager" mode to do what you're trying to do I think.

Those controls belong to your manager. It sounds like you want to play as "GM and Manager". Change your play mode.

Sorry to Ressurect.

I have a similar question. I am GM-only but my option is NOT grayed out. A previous manager was grayed out and I hired a newbie with no experience to see if I could wrangle control from him. I can now set myself as in control of "Setting Pitching Staff" and "Setting Lineups & Depth Charts". However the manager still seems to overrirde my lineups and depth charts and doesn't respect my bullpen setup either. Is the drop-down just completely irrelevant in GM only mode, whether it is grayed out or not?

What color are your controls? Depending on the manager, he may still alter the lineups... there seems to be a red, yellow, green setting... maybe you're on yellow to where the manager still maintains control, but you have input. That is how it seems to work to me.

Thanks for the response!
I'm not sure what you mean. See attached.

Edited: by the way the reason I don't just change to GM+Manager mode is that I'm not the commish, it is an online league.

The answer is in your own screenshot. Yellow ball=GM has limited influence.

Isn't that just the key? It is just explaining what a yellow ball means elsewhere. Every single manager has the same thing there.

Looks like some of the balls to the right are yellow.

My second guess is you have 'do not disturb' checked in team control settings and they are managing on their own because of it.

"The right" being your manager settings on the right of that 2nd screesnhot. Having trouble telling if some of those are yellow as I am colorblind. I actually wish they would make either the yellow or the green ball blue... would help me a great deal in other leagues.

They are all 100% green, also none of those balls on the right represents whether I, as GM, can alter the line up/ depth chart/ rotation, etc...

That is interesting about the colorblindness, because in the software I have at work we have a similar issue, so we combine shapes with the color differences and also replaced green with blue.

If they are all green, that isn't your problem.

Check your team control settings and make sure you do not have "Do not disturb" checked. The AI would overrule your choices if it is.

The "starting pitcher hook" and favor l/r match ups is what has the potential to affect them.

I honestly haven't posted much about the colorblind issue because it never much mattered until this version with those little balls for GM settings. But I just realized that us colorblind dudes actually have the ability to change the color of those balls in the skin images. Literally just clicked in my head because I made all new award icons last night out of the real MLB trophies and installed them into the ootp16 skins.

Stands to reason I can do the same thing with those balls, now that I think about it!
