Rotation in minors
Since some of my minor league teams are a bit flooded with pitchers (15-17 pitchers on a team), would it be wise to set a 6-man rotation instead of a 5-man rotation? Or could that hurt their development? Any thoughts?

I never use more than 5 SP's myself, so if I find I have more than that, I try to find them a new home.

I don't think a 6-man rotation is going to hurt the development of any of the pitchers used, but with a staff that big there are always going to be pitchers not getting much use and those guys are going to suffer.

I have used a 6 man rotation in Rookie or Short A. I have never had a noticeable drop in development of these pitchers. Injuries usually whittle it back down to 5 anyway. I rarely use the 6 man. Only when I have a surplus of quality SP's at that level. Echoing the posts above I usually make some cuts to make for some room.

I use a 6-man in Rookie Ball and maybe S-A, if I have it. Every other level I don't carry more than 25 guys on each roster, and for me that means 11 pitchers: 5 SP and 6 RP. As far as development is concerned, the only thing that seems to have a negative impact is NOT playing - ie, carrying 20 pitchers on one team and 4 of them tallying 6 innings pitched throughout the entire season. May as well release or trade those extra guys to give the ones with a little more talent consistent playing time.

I also use a 6-man rotation in SS-A and Rookie ball. I set the starters' pitch count limits to 90, this way the 7-9 guys in the bullpen still get a decent amount of work, and it (hopefully) cuts down slightly on potential injuries for the starters. I've seen no negative effects on development using this system.

A little weird thing since we are taking about pitchers in the minors I have 2 AAA affiliated leagues with my ML so each ML them have two AAA affiliates one of those leagues allows you to use a STOPPER and a CLOSER the other league only a CLOSER I found that strange

I have never seen that!
To me a Stopper means your ace starting pitcher. I wonder what a stopper reliever does? Excellent at getting out of inherited baserunner situations? |

I might be wrong I think a stopper is a wannabe closer that is willing 3 or innings if needed to keep the score as it is
