Newbie Needs Guidance
I had no idea this game existed until a couple days ago so I have zero history or knowledge. Downloaded the free trail of 2.5. Still working my way through the manual and understanding how it works. Will most definitely buy this game, but just have some basic questions.
2.5 vs 2013 - Which is better? Which is newer? Are most people using 2.5? Is there a way to play multiplayer or is it really single player only? Looking for somewhere to tell me what all the fighter rating categories mean and what are the scales used for each? It looks like the maximum overall rating is 15? So 0-15 for overall rating? What is the difference between a 2-point punch and 3-point punch? Love the idea of creating my own "universe" and re-creating classic fights from the past and of course, matchmaking fighters of different eras. Any other guidance you can offer or methods in which you "play" the game is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

I like 2.5 better. 2013 is newer. They're not that much different, really. Both use the same fight engine, so you should get similar results of simulations.
The manual explains the rating categories starting on page 42. 0-15 is the range for overall rating. 3-point punches are power punches. They do more damage and impress the judges more. |

2013 is the newest version, and Paul who made 2013 is working on the next version, so I'd buy that one. Neither has anything more than hotseat multiplayer.
For tips, inside the ropes has a wealth of universes great and small to get ideas from. |

Thank you both. Still learning the ropes but can easily see myself spending lots (too much!) time with this

I use 2013 and looking forward to the new one whenever just make sure you save often and in different places the random fighter generator can make fights interesting

One other thing that you might find disappointing, given your screen name. There's no way to fix fights in the game.

![]() ![]() I am related to him! Another quick question for you all. I have searched but have not found a clear answer, either from the manual or from the boards... How do you import a fighter that someone else has created? I might need step by step instructions to understand. Sorry for the newbie questions! |

No need to apologize for "newbie questions". We're always glad to see new comers. Want to warn you about importing fighters. The drop down menu allows you to import either individual fighter files or folders. You are the asked a number of questions If you are importing a group of fighters you are asked to check a box asking if you want to do this for everyone. The question are import stats and fight record. There is already a record with the same ID in your database. Do you still want to import the file? and Overwrite the existing record I never import stats and fight record. I don't need stats or records from some other universe in my database. (Only time I might want to do this would be if I want to move someone form one of my uni's to another) There is already a record with the same ID in your database. Do you still want to import the file? Answer to this is yes. The game recognizes the boxrec ID an a unique identifier, but there are a number of fighters who don't have one. Boxrec editors are asked to not enter prize ring fights into the database. so bareknuckle fighters would not have IDs in boxrec. Fictional fighter like Rocky wouldn't necessarilly have them either. If you want to import a fighter file you must say yes and Overwrite the existing record Answer no or you run the risk of losing fighters.

Thank you bear. That is good information to know!
Say I wanted to start a "universe" in 1950, using only fighters who made their debut in 1950 or prior. Is there a way to load the universe with ONLY fighters that meet this criteria and then add fighters as I move through the years? If I must create the universe with ALL fighters, then is there a way to use the autoscheduler to ONLY schedule fighters that meet that criteria? Thanks in advance. |

I believe in 2013 you can specify the career start date when you load a new universe. You can also setup groups -- so you could put all 1950 fighters into a group, etc. I think I used to have a group for those I was using and a group for those I would add to the used pool at a later time. |
