What is the difference when exporting to file, or exporting via FTP in an online league?

Do both accomplish the same thing?

They generate the same information, but exporting to file just saves it locally on your computer and you still have to email it to your commissioner. Exporting via FTP automates the process as it exports directly to your league's server.

I'd only export to file if I was unable to export to FTP for some reason.

Do you know what a connect error -201 is?

That is what I keep getting when I try to export via FTP.
