Complicated request: 162 games, 2SL, divisions of 677/666

A very similar schedule already exists for this 38-team layout, but was created in the 182-day era and had some kludges because of it.

The 7th interleague series slot allows every team in a division to play the same amount of interleague series (7 if in a 6-team division, 6 if in a 7-team division), which solves the main issue the previous schedule had.

I would prefer the majority of interleague series to be midweek and spread throughout the schedule, but I can see why that might not work given the 7th interleague series.

A few 2-game series are required (except in the first subleague's 6-team division) to pad the schedule out to 52 series. This also assists in home/away balance in the second subleague.

I have no experience scheduling unequal divisions, hence the request.

38 team schedule, 162 games
Designed for the following configuration:
2 subleagues, each with 3 divisions,
first subleague divisions with 6, 7, 7 teams
second subleague divisions with 6, 6, 6 teams

First subleague
6-team division
11 games against 3 of other 5 teams in division (4-7H/4-7A)
12 games against 2 of other 5 teams in division (6H/6A)
6 games against other 14 teams in league (3H/3A)
3 games against 7 teams in other subleague (3H or 3A)
7-team divisions
11 games against other 6 teams in division (4-7H/4-7A)
6 games against other 13 teams in league (3H/3A)
3 games against 6 teams in other subleague (3H or 3A)
Second subleague
6-team divisions
13 games against 1 of other 5 teams in division (6-7H/6-7A)
14 games against 4 of other 5 teams in division (6-8H/6-8A) [can't always be 7H/7A because that gives half the teams 82 home games]
6 games against other 12 teams in league (3H/3A)
3 games against 7 teams in other subleague (3H or 3A)

No preference on game times as I can set those manually

Season begins first Thursday on or after March 27
Season thus ends late September/early October

All-Star Game set for a Tuesday in early-mid July

This will be a beast, but figuring out the matchups in a tough part, so thanks for that. In marking up and breaking into series I have made some slight revisions. I think they fit, but maybe you can check my work. Some notes related to that follow below.

First subleague

6-team division (3*3 + 4*2 + 2*14 + 1*7) = (9 + 8 + 28 + 7) = 52 series
  • 11 games (3 series) against 3 of other 5 teams in division (4H/7A or 7H/4A) - extra H/A series balanced by inverse interleague series
  • 12 games (4 series) against 2 of other 5 teams in division (6H/6A)
  • 6 games (2 series) against other 14 teams in league (3H/3A)
  • 3 games (1 series) against 7 teams in other subleague (3H or 3A) - extra H/A series balanced by inverse division series

7-team divisions (3*4 + 4*2 + 2*13 + 1*6) = (12 + 8 + 26 + 6) = 52 series
  • 11 games (3 series) against 4 of other 6 teams in division (4H/7A or 7H/4A) - internally balanced H/A
  • 11 games (4 series) against 2 of other 6 teams in division (5H/6A or 6H/5A) - internally balanced H/A
  • 6 games (2 series) against other 13 teams in league (3H/3A)
  • 3 games (1 series) against 6 teams in other subleague (3H or 3A)

Second subleague

6-team divisions (5*1 + 4*4 + 2*12 + 1*7) = (5 + 16 + 24 + 7) = 52 series
  • 13 games (5 series) against 1 of other 5 teams in division (5H/8A or 8H/5A) - extra H/A series balanced by inverse interleague series
  • 14 games (4 series) against 4 of other 5 teams in division (7H/7A)
  • 6 games (2 series) against other 12 teams in league (3H/3A)
  • 3 games (1 series) against 7 teams in other subleague (3H or 3A) - extra H/A series balanced by inverse division series

The cases with 7 interleague series means lack of H/A balanced within those games. That is covered in the division games. E.g., for the first subleague 6-team division, being 9H/12A in interleague is balanced by having one more 7H/4A. In the second subleague being 12H/9A is balanced by going 5H/8A against the one 13-game opponent.

The first subleague 7-team division need some opponents with three series and some with four series to get to the 52 total series.

The 2-game series are with the two 4-series opponents in the first subleague 7-team division and with the one 5-series opponent in the second subleague.

Accidentally tagged as ILN, but works fine if the header is changed.
