AI issue with 40-man roster management
I'm in the second year of a 32-team custom league, and we're in mid-June (draft pick signing season). Pretty basic league set-up.
Several of the AI-controlled teams are going bonkers, shuffling players on and off their "Designated for Assignment" lists. Players are getting waived/DFA'd, then assigned to the minors, then getting called up and immediately re-waived/DFA'd over and over in a vicious cycle. The transactions page is chock full of this maneuvering every week. I think it's because the computer teams are too liberal about handing out major league contracts (and 40-man roster spots) to mid-round draft picks. We just finished our 2nd amateur draft, and now every team has a bunch of low-minors guys clogging up their 40-man rosters now, leaving no room for fringy MLB guys. One team in particular currently has 11 pitchers designated for assignment, and only nine pitchers on its active roster! The reason is their 40-man roster is full of 11th and 12th and 21st round picks who are still in short season ball. Might be a good fix for OOTP16. Only elite prospects or near-MLB-ready guys should be getting 40-man spots right out of the amateur draft. Sorry if this issue has been highlighted by someone else already. Also, if anyone has an idea of the best way for me to address this in my current league, I'd love the feedback. |

This is an issue in leagues with certain roster settings. It's not an issue in most setups, but there are a few where it happens. I forget exactly what causes this to happen though.
Could you post your settings or even .dat files so someone could take a look at them? |

Thanks lucasberger! I'd be happy to post my .dat files and/or settings. What files or specific information do you need, and what's the best way to get it to you?

Don't have roster limits in your lowest minor league level.
