Historical 3.0 Plus: Post your suggestions

Posting here as not all visit the mods forum.
Last yr. I released Historical Importer 2.0 for ootp that automated the creation of text files that ootp can use to auto import historical players.
I'm currently working on 3.0 Plus, which will contain more features and I'd like suggestions as to what you would like to see. Unfortunately, I don't have excel so one will need Apache Open Office (it's free) as this is just a simple spreadsheet utility.
The features in 3.0 Plus so far are:
1. Updated to include all players with a lahman ID up to & including 2013 MLB debuts. 18,171 players in all. Fully sortable by name, country, state, city. Formulas will auto adjust so that data and links will/should be correct.
2. Auto creates the correct text format (lahmanID,Year) in its own column for use with ootp's historical import from text file feature. Just copy your finished results from that column to any text program and save. No limit on the number of players that can be imported at once.
3. You can create multiple text files on one sheet. No need to add separate sheets.
4. Auto creation of the players bbref MLB page link. Just click the link to goto the player's bbref page.
5. Auto search any player on bbref's site. Simply input the players name and click the auto generated link. Uses full name or just last name.
6. Auto generated player page links can be used internally to automate importing any players bbref stats (hitting, fielding and Pitching) to a separate sheet in Open Office. Once imported, format them to ootp's specs and save as .txt files for import to ootp.
7. Add your own vlookup tables to the vlookup sheet. Great for creating your own importable rosters. No data is locked that can't be unlocked as nothing is password protected.

Post your suggestions for additional features and I'll see if I can incorporate them.
Have a happy and fruitful new year. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I would love for an option to auto populate the debut year column for a selected group/iteration as:

1. Actual debut year
2. Debut years a set + or - from actual (i.e. players in this set of generated list all debut 3 years later than actual)
3. As #2 but a random range (i.e. -3 to +3, -2 to 0) debut year
4. Debut year to be at a selected set age for this group

Thanks and I look forward to the next version. I use it for all my 'real' player solos

1. Are you talking about just entering the player's name and having the debut yr. auto populate in the Year column? If so no problem as long as the player's name matches our DB player's name exactly.
Option 1. I can add extra columns for this and the other suggestions(not the best solution)
Option 2. Use a separate cell that the user can enter a number which will determine what year is auto populated (This would also cover your 2, 3, & 4 suggestions).

2. Debut years cannot be any lower than actual as they won't import. Only way around that is for the user to mod their master.csv

3. See #1 Option 2.

4. Gotta think about that one as I can't change the way ootp imports players and my utility currently has no clue how old any player is at the time of import, but #1 Option 2 is a possibility if I can figure the proper formulas.
Thanks for the suggestions

I played around with it today and liked what I saw for all the options except the 'early' debuts which as you noted do not work so I did a modded master csv with 40% at 3 yrs earlier, 30% at 2, 20% at 1 and 10% the same and just started testing it

I played around with your sheet today and like what I am seeing except for the issue you noted for early debuts. I did do a modded master csv with 40% at 3 yrs early, 30% at 2, 20% at 1 and 10% at original and like what I see in initial testing.

In theory, it should work fine.
When you do that, you may also want to change the player's birth year as well so you don't get funky player ages.
Also keep an eye on players stats. They won't have any real stats if you import them sooner than the original debut yr.

I did not change the birth year, I like the fact that some come in as 15 or 16 yr old raw prospects.

I never import complete history or use recalc so no real stats is fine with me.

Thanks for the heads up
