newbie question about OOTP vs. The Show
I realize this is the OOTP forums, and there is likely to be a lot of bias, but if someone could give me an objective comparison between OOTP and MLB the show franchise mode for PS4, I would be very appreciative. Thank you. I love baseball, and I want to get the best most realistic and engaging game I can...or maybe both. I just would like an honest comparison.

1. If you are a guy who enjoys playing the games and going online and playing actual games, then OOTP isn't for you. OOTP has no actual playing. 2. OOTP is much, much more in depth. There's any kind of stat. Also, playing OOTP is like being a GM and actually managing a team. I'm sure MLB the Show is just making trades and just simming. OOTP is much more than that. Kind of hard to give an analysis, because these two games are SO MUCH different. All in all, if you enjoy managing a team, making trades, developing players and not actual playing, then OOTP is for you. I don't think you should be saying "Which one should I buy, and only one." I own both games. I play the Show to actually play the game with friends and online. I own OOTP to do my managing stuff. If you want to learn a lot about OOTP, just watch this video. This is basically what the game is and that's how you play. Trust me, it isn't for everyone. Most people like to press buttons and pitch and hit, so this game might not be your type of game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xser...BffPMYr7Cf0Y7g Also, forgot to add: Franchise mode in the Show gets destroyed by OOTP's because of the level of detail. It can get pretty overwhelming by how much info there is. I remember my first 2 months I had no idea what I was doing, but its fun. Last edited by Gai1997; 08-11-2014 at 03:16 PM. |

Pretty good synopsis. In a sense, it's like owning a BMW and a Porsche. They are both good, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't want both of them.
![]() The one thing that OOTP certainly has that MLB and most console games lack is customizability. In MLB you pretty much have AA, AAA, and MLB, end of story. In OOTP you can almost create whatever you want. In fact, as we speak, I am starting my career as the manager of a fictional Mexican rookie league baseball team in OOTP, while my 13-year-old son is sitting behind me playing Road to the Show.
