My best friend grew up in Singapore and does not have a single good thing to say about the place. I hope your experiences there are better.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

They have outlets on the plane so no worries about the computer running out of juice. Thank you air singapore! 18 hours, 6 seasons, 1 championship. A great airplane ride indeed! With OOTP, international flight is a breeze!

the wolf: So you just got back from Singapore? How did you like it?

wolf's best friend: I thought I was going to like it a lot. But it turns out it was a brutal totalitarian regime.

the wolf: It is? With this knowledge, I can now tell people on message boards not to go based on your experiences.

Actually-

Best friend: "I lived in Singapore from when I was ten until I was eighteen because my father was stationed at the American Embassy there, and it was Hell. The government was totalitarian and wouldn't allow in most books and magazines, and even chewing gum and comic books were forbidden. They were brutal to their own people. Everything fun was forbidden. I couldn't wait to get back to the U.S. Never go there."

Sometimes it's fun to just to sit back and marvel at the actions of a true social misfit. Wow!

10-18 is a tough age to judge a location as anywhere that doesn't involve a boob isn't fun at all and totalitarian. Anyways I'll be here reading and waiting, carry on.

Singapore is a democratic state, but with some very clear and strong authoritarian elements however. He's not that far off, though I wouldn't call it totalitarian.

singapore: brutal totalitarian regime.
Nazi germany and ussr Russia: super duper brutal totalitarian regime?

Comic books are not forbidden in Singapore. I'm not a comic book fan but I see plenty of comic book stores around. Chewing gum is allowed. It just isn't sold. Anyhow those are two interesting examples to bring up when trying to prove a country is a totalitarian regime.

nazi germany and soviet Russia WERE totalitarian regimes. I don't recall Anne Frank writing in her diary, you know this place is just the worst. I can't even chew gum here! I do recall her being sent to a concentration camp and dying along with six million other Jews. That is what a brutal totalitarian regime does. Stalin's Russia killed tens of millions of people in the great purges. That is what a brutal totalitarian regime does.

To prove your point about singapore you mention gum and comic books? Neither example you mention is correct and you are talking about gum and comic books.

Norva13x is correct. Singapore is an authoritarian democracy. There are some issues. It is not a brutal totalitarian regime.

Talk about idiots? You tried to prove a country was totalitarian by talking about comic books and gum. Feel free to bring other points to the discussion. Just remember you led off with comic books and gum. Not quite the same as the holocaust or the great purges.

Finally I will end with my most important point, I started this thread to honor ootp for being so amazing that I could basically play it for 18 hours straight on a plane without losing interest.

Deep beneath the cover of another perfect wonder where it's so white as snow,
Finally divided by a world so undecided and there's nowhere to go;
In between the cover of another perfect wonder and it's so white as snow,
Running through the field where all my tracks will be concealed and there's nowhere to go.

I told you what my best friend, who grew up there, told me. He loves everywhere he's ever been except there. I will make a point of avoiding conversations with you in the future, as you clearly have issues with other people's experiences and points of view. Enjoy your visit.
