My Name is Billy Butler. I'm INSANE.
I'm fat. I can't play defense. I'm having the year of my life. I didn't like that the Royals didn't meet my first demand for $18M/year for 5 years. This is my response.

You know how everyone has players, teams, etc. they just can't stand? Well Billy Boy is one of mine. I cannot stand him. 40 million a season? I'd tell him to get bent!

Hey, if I was a player and I wasn't happy with how contract negotiations were going, I might do something like that, too.

There's no way that the AI will ever sign him for that much, my guess is that if you wait his demand will go down...Either that or it is the AI that is INSANE

That money is for a set of bionic legs so he can make it to first base before the RF throws him out.

You guys may not remember this, but when he came up in real life they tried to put him in LF and it was quite literally a clown show. There are second graders that cover more ground.

What's more surprising in that screenshot is the fact that the Royals are 57-20 on June 24th 2014. I'd file that as a bug report for Markus to look at.

Markus, sometimes the game just does weird things. Unless they somehow screw up my league, I always view these things as bonuses.

I agree, as weird & fictional as it may seem, I think it adds to the game. You can always create a story behind it that says Butler has been having issues in KC and unless his high demands are met, he will be looking elsewhere for lower $$$. |

57-20 at this point? Is Billy Boy hitting .350-30-100 already? $40M? Offer Compensation, take that draft pick.
I had that happen one year with my team. Star player wouldn't sign the hometown discount offer, offered compensation and declined, received the Type A compensation (I always go back to old format after 2016 season) and watched this guy take $35M/year from the Dodgers only to never hit .300, drive in 100, or have 100 hits ever again in a season for his career. |

The weird thing is he's hitting like .315/.350/.450 or so. He has 50 RBI. And he's under team option for 2015 anyway at like $12M which is why I was trying to extend him for a few years more beyond that but at less than $12M per year.
For some reason Shields, Duffy, Vargas and Chen (yes Chen) are nails for me in the default set. Ventura is the worst of the bunch so far. He's walking. I just have never seen a $40M/year demand from anyone. It sure added entertainment value to the game! Last edited by Airdrop01; 07-10-2014 at 06:21 PM. |

Thanks for the laugh. I don't know if this would be as funny if it wasn't Billy "Beer League" Butler
