Bruce Chen: April '14 God Touched My Arm

Talk about an anomaly!! Not to mention the friggin KC record through 4/25 in this game.... I guess if Bruce Chen does this, then it makes Shields, Ventura, Vargas and Guthrie seem like Bob Gibson.

Trade him now!!! Things will eventually even out and I could see a 0-5 streak coming in his near future. Move him out while his value is high!

Gotta love the random stuff that happens in this game, anything is possible especially to start a season.

Oh yeah. Reverting to the mean is going to be rough for him. Be prepared for a couple outings where he doesn't get out of the first inning.

BRUCE! And to think I always thought that would have been his career back in the 90s!

LOL. I tried to trade him and Christian Colon to Dombrowski for Max Scherzer and Austin Jackson. Not surprisingly, the OOTP trade AI is smarter than Dimbrowski! If only they still had Fister I bet he'd have done it! Ha!

Never. But then it's not really the same as a game. I wouldn't judge whether ol' Dave is smart by whether or not he's won the AL central more than a team owned by David Glass.

Relax, bro.

I would.

You mean the incompetent GM that won a World Series in Florida and then turned around an abysmal Detroit Tigers franchise?

Well, aaaaaanyway.....

Back to the topic....Apparently the AI does look at ratings and not stats because the offers for Chen are about what they should be.....

I'm working on trying to dump Guthrie and Chen so maybe...just maybe...I can extend Shields.

His last start was more Chen-like...3 er in 6 ip.

Holy crap. He's now 9-1 at amateur draft time. Still around .225 BABIP so very very lucky there. And crazy low HR rate. The luck of the Panamanian I guess.

I remember starting a league with the Reds last year with OOTP14 and I had a similar experience with Jeff Francis. One of my starters got hurt and he replaced him in the rotation and ended up starting 7-0 with a sub 2 ERA. He eventually came back down to earth.

I had Paul Maholm start 5-0 with an ERA under 2 for the Dodgers. I traded him along with some other players to the Pirates for Tony Sanchez, where, to my shock, he finished 14-5 with a 2.19 ERA and won the Cy Young Award. Of course, he was terrible the following year.

Some things in this world can only happen through computer simulation.

God might've touched his arm, but it looks like the devil slapped his face. I love how savagely unflattering facegen can be at times.

I had Kershaw on my team and he went 22-1 by August then he suffered a 7 month injury (was so hoping he would get 30 wins) and wasnt the same for 3 seasons and he is now on pace to be a solid number 4 or 5 starter with 17 wins and good ERA but lacks run support to get to 20 wins
