Weird playoff Tiebreaker

So, just finished playing the first season, and the following teams played more than 162 games:

Atlanta 163
Miami 164
Pittsburgh 163
Chicago Cubs 163
Los Angeles Dodgers 164
San Francisco Giants 163

Pittsburgh was the top wildcard team with 91 wins, wasn't close to the Cardinals, so therefore no reason to play an extra game.

The Cubs (me) finished 81-81, but somehow played one of the Marlins extra games.

Dodgers played the Pirates, lost then played the Giants and won.

Miami played the Braves and lost. Then they played the Cubs and lost and now have a game scheduled against the mets, who are 77-85, and nowhere near a playoff berth.

Please post the standings after 162 games. That's needed in order to figure out what should have happened.

I didn't catch it till after 164 for a couple teams. Either way, Mets and Cubs shouldn't have been any teams extra game.

If you're still in that season you ought to be able to select the standings for the last regular day of the season through the Standings screen. Use the "Date of Standings" drop-down menus to select the date of the standings you wish to view.

Did you have any ties the season before?

New league in OOTP 15. I'm no longer in that season, but I did back to a seperate location, so maybe if I'm feeling up to it later I'll try and load it and check.

you might be able to look it up in history of league of that year and at least be able to show standings and since you showed the results of game OOTP might be able to extrapulate the issue .... goto history then click on the year then put picture on here. Got me curious as well since i am nearing the end of my first season using OOTP (I play every game)

Alright, so I reloaded the league and here is what I see.

Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles tied for the last Wildcard with 88 wins

So, September 29th, Miami played Atlanta... Los Angeles played Pittsburgh, which was the other Wildcard team with 91 wins. Atlanta won, Pittsburgh won.

September 30th, Cubs played Miami, San Francisco played Los Angeles. Cubs won, Dodgers won.

October 1st, Miami plays the Mets, Colorado plays the Giants. Mets and Rockies won.

October 2nd, Milwaukee plays the Marlins, Cincinnati plays the Giants. Marlins and Reds win.

October 3rd, Philadelphia plays the Brewers and San Diego plays the Giants. Brewers and Giants win.

October 4th, Padres and Phillies play, with the Phillies winning.

Finally playoffs begin.

Were there any ties in terms of W-L record between a wild card team and a division winner?

I posted something similar to this in the bug reports thread awhile back.

Tie breakers are buggered I think.

I had a 3 way tie, the game scheduled a tie break game, then started adding even more games including teams that weren't tied in the first place.

I haven't tried the beta patch.

I just experienced the same issue with multiple leagues. Tie breakers are sometimes scheduling unnecessary games.
