Begin day after last game of WS ends?

Is it possible to create an option where instead of starting the season in OOTP 15 in 2014, it starts as the 2013 season ends & allows you to manage the off-season how you would instead of how the current GM did?

It should be easy enough to edit the majors quickstart. I'll put it on my list of things to do.

Yes! I've always wanted this, too.

I would LOVE dearly if this was some sort of option, but with the opening day budget, so you can spend the money the way you want.

I see a Mets fan agreeing, possibly a Cubs fan & I'm a Royals fan... Some unhappy fan bases... Perhaps we feel let down by our MLB GMs & think we can do their jobs better!

The Mets (who I am leaning towards playing) are a particularly good candidate. I do not understand why they won't simply pay Drew and make the jump for three years and make Tejada a utility man. Then there's the bizarre Young AND Granderson signings and complete lack of attention to the bullpen when guys like Rafael Betancourt are sitting out there. They gave Granderson, full of red flags 60 million...makes no sense

As a Royals fan, my first move is to reverse the Shields/Myers trade from last year... knew that was stupid & incredibly short-sighted the moment it was reported. I hope I & everyone else is in the process of being proven wrong on Vargas, but even if he does well this year, 4/$32M is just nonsensical for a league average SP. There were so many similar to superior options if they just waited, as has been proven the way to go in recent years.
Mets decisions are difficult to understand as well. I have a Mets fan friend that I may lure to OOTP simply on the concept of being able to undo some of the injustices.

Cubs fan checking in. In Theo I trust, but this would still be a worthwhile feature for future OOTP releases...

Given his age, I may have gone all-in on Tanaka as Cubs GM this past offseason.

So would this be rosters as of the day after the 2013 World Series, or would it be 2014 opening day rosters, but starting the day after the 2013 WS?

My proposal is for us to have the option as GMs to take over w/ rosters as of end of WS 2013... Actually, my IDEAL would be to take over day after end of WS 2013 & have a listing of ALL transactions that are to happen between then & the official roster date of the game & give us the option to toggle on or off all of those transactions... That way, we can keep the rest of the league as close to authentic as possible, but only "improve" the teams we are managing, for example:
-Royals NOT sign Vargas, stay in hunt to re-sign Santana or go after Garza
-Royals NOT sign Infante, try to trade for one of the Mariners excess 2B parts
-Cubs go all in on Tanaka & keep him from Yankees
-Fister trade to Nats be opened to highest bidder for Fister instead of what appeared to be taking first offer that looked decent.(if I cared to help the Tigers, which I don't!)
-But allow all other transactions to go through.

Is that asking too much, particularly at this late date relative to new game release?
I suppose I can go back & force through reversals, but that alters the history of the game & is not as cosmetically appealing.

I knew that's what you were asking for, but I quoted bwburke94 to see if it's what he planned on doing. Seems like it would be a lot of work for the roster folks to go back and set rosters to how they were at the end of the 2013 WS.

Also, it's probably not possible to have real life transactions play out exactly the same but let the human make his/her own moves with the team they control. Once the human player does something that's not historically accurate to this past offseason, the AI will react and change its strategy for the other 29 teams based on what the human does. In other words, if you control the Royals and don't sign Vargas and do sign Garza, other teams have to alter their moves to react to that, so you'll likely get vastly different transactions than what happened in real life.

Your points are all well taken, as I said this was an IDEAL world scenario, & the OOTP guys seem to have a way of making dreams happen, so I figured it didn't hurt to ask.
Perhaps it would be easier if there was a "Reverse an historical transaction" feature? This way we could just undo specific transactions without them altering the league history... or, as initially proposed, an option to turn the clock back to rosters at the end of the WS & let us pick up from there.

Then don't use Historical Lineups and Transactions. Use a 2013 league and be in Commissioner Mode and turn off Trading and sim to end of World Series then.

Hope you didn't take my points as being a knock against your suggestion. I think it's a great suggestion and I'd love to have a quickstart on the day after the WS with rosters accurate for that day.

Not at all... I took it that you like the idea & want to help figure out the best way to make it happen. Hopefully this discussion shows the OOTP guys enough that they can see the interest we all have in it & can think of a way to make it work. Thanks for your input.

Sandy offered 2/22 I believe. Bor@$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$ turned it down.

The thing I would've done differently IRL is trade Parnell at the 2013 deadline. It was literally the stupidest decision Sandy's made in his 3 1/2 years as Mets GM to hang on to him. We could've gotten two top 75 prospects for him. Or maybe Nick Castellanos straight up, who would've slotted into LF for us this season.

Sorry, I don't completely understand your suggestion. I am only on my 3rd-4th version of OOTP & haven't mastered all of the settings but you seem to believe what you are suggesting will work, I just need you to explain it more.
Also, I want to make sure that I have all of the updated ratings from this version of OOTP.
On the surface, it seems like your suggestion forces me to go through the 2013 season over, but with different results & play on from there. My goal is to essentially be "hired" at the end of the season as GM w/ my first tasks being deciding who to re-sign, offer arbitration, go after in free agency, trade for, etc. I want to have the entire off-season to build the roster how I would like to for the 2014 season.
As I said, I'm not fully expert on settings, so your suggestion may accomplish this, but it appears to me that I would have to do 2013 over if I go by your suggestion & that is just not desirable.

If my tigers had given up Castellanos straight up for Parnell, I would've had to write them a strongly worded letter

This seems outrageously optimistic to me Tejdog. No way anyone is giving that up for a relief pitcher, and a relief pitcher who isn't even in the top 20, 25 in baseball. And I'd pay the 2/22, it's really not that much in today's money and AJPolo, neither is 8 mil per for an innings eater these days, although I appreciate the fourth year was a bit wtf
