Passed away at 71. Lots of baseball memories, RIP Jim and thanks for those great memories.

Mets fans remember Fregosi as the player they acquired for Nolan Ryan, just as Ryan's long career was taking off. The New York Times obituary called this "one of baseball’s more infamous trades."

Yet, Fregosi had the last laugh in a way. The year Ryan finally retired, Fregosi took his Phillies to the World Series.

Belated RIP. Damn, I'm old enough to have seen him play at the end of his career with the Rangers & Pirates and vividly remember having his baseball cards. I didn't really think of him as being that old, even though he was 71. I'm feeling my own mortality.

I feel old when I watch sports, even more so when I watch a football (soccer) match and the son of a player I used to watch is playing, be even worse in years to come when the grandkid of a player I used to watch is playing
