How do you run your drafts?

I find I only draft for the first two-three rounds and then let the AI finish for me. I find this kind of boring, and wish it could be more involved. I don't bother signing draftees with low potential, but the ones with good potential ratings always disappear after the first or second round.

Are there any settings you can change to make the drafts more involved?

When I look at the history of some players based on real players, often times good or decent ones were drafted in later rounds, but I haven't seen these types of players too often.

What do you guestimate Mike Piazza's potential was IRL? He was drafted in the 62nd round as a favour by his godfather Tommy Lasorda. Talk about a diamond in the rough. At that stage, you've got to look for guys with intelligence and a strong work ethic, and who knows maybe one of them will turn out for you. Good luck.

i find round 4 is where the fun starts for me. Looking for gold glove winners, guys with ++ skills in speed, solid MR, high work ethics with tools in HS..i also find these guys way more fun to watch through the minors than some of the top guys.

i must say my whole drafting changed when i was told about feeder leagues. now every May i highlight guys who win awards even if they are 3 years away.

after the 15-20th round it gets down to pretty much what do i need to make my rookie teams in contention

The Mike Piazza thing would never happen in OOTP though, I don't think?

Here's what Jim Jarmusch said about watching boring movies (which is something he had to do to learn how to be a film director): Pick something interesting about it. That turned into him focusing on actors's hair for 300 hours, but for you it can be like speed, fielding, weight. Pick the fastest guys. Pick the fieldiest guys. Pick the guys who apparently eatonly ice cream. Pick a thing to pick, and pick all of it.
