Kings and Pawns, Emperors and Fools...The Honorable_Pawn Interview

This Hall of Fame member has been a member since 2008, have over 2,200 post but also been thanked 1,400 times, now that says a lot about what people think of him. Here he is the Honorable_Pawn.

When and what version did you start playing OOTP?

I first started playing OOTP in 2007 with the SI version. A a year ot wo before that I had played a l;ittle baseball mogul. I thought that game was pretty cool. Long before that in the 80's I cut me teeth with the C64 Microleague baseball. I created all 26 teams with complete rosters from my 1987 Tops baseball card collection.

I found OOTP on an internet search a few weeks after I found a GM baseball simulator at the mall. As I was walking back to my car I was reading the box. As soon as I realized that the players were fictional I turned around and returned the game.

To this day I believe that that game was OOTP. Back then I didn't know you could easily mod in real players.

What's most ironic? I only play fictional now-a-days.

What's feature of the game you love most?

My favorite feature is watching my draftees develop and flame out. I love the heartache of a bust and the exhilaration of a surprise.

What's favorite baseball team (any league)?

How old you?

40...I think. I'm not sure though.

Where are you originally from?

Long Island.

Are you a family man?

Nope. I screwed all of that up years ago. Never properly recovered.

What do you for a living?

Corporate financial Accountant.

Besides OOTP do you have any other hobbies or interest?

I have a problem with gambling and alcohol.

Where do you feel your biggest contributions to the forum are?

I don't feel like a contributor. I feel like a taker. But...I'm working on returning the favors the best I can.

What other forum members insight, point of views and help do you personally enjoy and value?

I personally value The Wolf very highly. I just love his ego and the air of self-importance that he masquerades around with. LOL. But...ellipses asisde..I know that he is good forum member and has been very very helpful to many different people. He is often misunderstood because he is so black-and-white. Most people like to beat around the bush and they are often left feeling uncoddled.

I can't name them all but Bru, The Game, Tex, Gern, that new canadian guy, and JAFan are people that I really enjoy knowing.

If the OOTP team asked you be a consultant what will you change, add or remove for new version of the game?

Easy. More tycoon stuff. I don't want to be just a GM. I want to be the "Most-Awesomest-Businessman-Manager-Tycoon" who ever lived.

Do you feel Pete Rose should be a HOF? What about known or alledged steroid users?

Yes. I believe in second chances and I root for underdogs always. Steriods...no problem. No different than all the other cheats in the HAll. Catfish...Neikro...et al.

Is there any other game or show your currently enjoying you would like to let us know?

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I really really do.

When I was new I wanted to "internet-fight" you so bad. I was just so ready to argue with you. But the more and more I read and the more and more I just accepted you for who you are the more I realized how valauable and important you are to me and the community.

Thanks for making this a better place for me!

Well, then just wait a minute. I'll do my angry "half-orc" in a little bit.

Okay, my turn. When HP first got here I have to admit I rolled my eyes a lot. But over time, I realized he had value to the community and that I got a lot of enjoyment from his posts and he gradually became one of my favorite posters. He's not Rich or Bru yet, but give him time.
