Waiver Trade

Tried to make a trade after July 31st, and it got cancelled because one of the players involved did not clear waiver. However i never found out which one, nor if it was one of mine get the chance to just dump him on the claiming team.... is this how OOTP works?

Yes, unfortunately. It does make it tough if you're trying to make a multi-player deal. You might be able to find this in the player history, but you'd have to go through each one. Might say something to the extent that he was placed on waivers on day X, then claimed on day Y, then pulled from waivers on day Z.

I'm just not sure that info is kept or not.

The day after the trade you may see the player on the waiver. You may have to use "finish day" to see him.

it was frustrating since i was trying to dump future contract. so if anyone made a claim i would have said, here all yours....

ended up being ok, the SS i was dumping ended up being needed in playoffs due to injuries, and the other team still made an equivalent trade in offseason..

still learning. would the suggestion be aligned with MLB (ie allow to do revocable waivers up front), or a way to handle the way OOTP works (ie. notice someone claimed your guy, you may negotiate with the claiming team for 2 days, dump him on them, or take him back)?

no, the fact you really aren't informed about what team and why...should come in the form of an email...just not detailed enough....sort of got brushed over it seems.

ok. though since i can't do a "here you have it" like in real life i'm not sure if the information is relevant (well maybe which player was claimed may be interesting).

i did add to your communication thread since i agree with you that it can be improved

Since waiver trades are a special subset of regular trades it seem strange they can't have a screen. For those players that give the AI some control it would be annoying to think that your team may blow the trade by claiming the guy on waivers.

Does the game differentiate between revocable (Aug-Sep) and irrevocable waivers? All I've noticed so far are irrevocable.

there is a revocable one, but only indirectly. If you trade a guy on your 40man past the trade deadline he goes on revocable waiver. if claimed, trade is cancelled, so you technically took him off waiver....

Ok, that makes sense, I've had that happen.

But there isn't the revocable waiver where you can basically put your whole roster out there to guage interest and pull them all back like they do in MLB every August?

no there is not. and with the way all this is public in OOTP, and the player would find out and be grumpy, like every time i call some other GM to see if they would be interested in a player, i would not put my whole roster on Waiver if it was possible.
