Resurrecting Deleted/Renamed Teams Possible?

Whenever you manually delete a team, the team designation and ID # stays in the game going forward, and is included in part of your records. However, when you create a team or a league, and rename the team(s), rather than assigning the new name to the newly created ID, the game behaves as though you deleted the new team and created another new team and assigns it a fresh ID. The challenge is in record keeping, when you download the CSVs or .txt files: those deleted teams remain in those files.

Is it possible to resurrect an old deleted team for any purpose, such as to act as dummy teams for short-term leagues after you move other teams from that league to another league? Am I making sense?

You are making sense. I don't think it's possible to resurrect those old teams though. At least I've never found a way to do it.

If you do want to get rid of all those old deleted teams from your game's records you can do so by running the purge tool found at Game > Database Info and Tools > Tools (bottom right hand part of the screen) > purge deleted records from database.

That will permanently get rid of any deleted teams that aren't linked to any player or team stats in the db. It doesn't delete teams that are linked to stats though, which is good, since that way your league's historical statistical integrity is maintained even when teams are deleted.

I don't necessarily want to change everyone's playerID and teamID. Don't know why it has to happen that way?

The tool isn't really as scary as it looks, I use it regularly and have never had issues with it. I would make a backup before using it though, just to be safe.

It does change the ids, there's no getting around that. As to why it has to be that way, I'm not really sure.

Markus told me at one point in time that non-sequential ids aren't possible for some reason, he didn't go into detail on why.

So I'm guessing that the old ids can't just be deleted since that'd leave non-sequential gaps. Thus everything has to be re-numbered to make permanent deletion of deleted ids work.

Purge will mess up some records, at least the way the they are displayed. I ran Purge following my 2014 season with Lukas' advice, not sure if it helped but it did not hurt other then showing which team these players played for & which team they pitched their no hitters against in the Accomplishments section. Stratford is a AA team. Middleton HS was part of a dead feeder league. All are ML No-Hitters.
