Help! Can't progress the game..
Hello Friends,
I'm experiencing the following problem. When I'm trying to "Finish Today" I'm getting the Following "Attention!" Message: "...have a player designated for assignment whose DFA time runs out today. He must me assigned or released. Please go to the team transaction screen, select the DFA & Waivers area and handle the situation." So that's what I do. The player is both on Waivers (3 Days left (irrevocable) and on the Players Designated for Assignment list (0 Days left). If I'm trying to remove him from Waivers I'm getting the message "The player is designated for assignment, he cannot be removed from waivers until he clears". When I'm trying to send him to a Minor League team I'm getting the Info: "This player has to clear waivers first!" I can't put him back on my Active Roster either. Really don't know what else to do, anybody here has a suggestion? If you need more information let me know! |

Worse case scenario, you could enter Commish mode and go to the player editor, then assign him to where you want him (AAA, AA or wherever) and clear his waivers/DFA status.
I'm curious though - what do you have your league settings at for DFA and Waiver # of days. It sounds like they aren't jiving with each other. Waivers should be less days than DFA. Last edited by Bluenoser; 02-01-2014 at 09:28 AM. |

Perhaps he was DFA'd but not waived. The player can be released or put back on the active roster so you can cycle through again.

I'm pretty sure the following sequence is what happened and it has come up before. Maybe Markus could come up with a fix or a warning before you complete these particular steps.
1. You waive and DFA a player 2. he clears waivers but you ignore this and let his DFA time run out 3. Game tells you that you have a player who's DFA time is up and you need to move him This is where the problem begins 4. You go to the waiver screen instead of the DFA screen and drag and drop to the minors BUT the game gives you the message "drag player to bottom of screen to remove from waivers" so being the obedient GM that you are you do this which removes him from waivers. You then go to the DFA screen and try to drag him to the minors but the game says "player is out of options and needs to clear waivers etc." Now you're stuck in the Catch-22 loop the OP encountered. Now the problem only arises if you wait until all DFA time has expired. If you do this after the 3 day waiver period then it's just a matter of re-waiving the player because you still have 7 DFA days left. So the bottom line is ALWAYS drag the player from the DFA box not the waiver box. In fact players who clear waivers never need to be removed from that box unless a situation arises where he needs to be re-waived. I remove them because I don't like the clutter but its not necessary. If you look around at AI teams you will see they leave players there all the time. Maybe Markus could make it so if you try to assign players from the waiver box it would stop you and tell you to use the DFA box. |
