May 15-June 5

May 15, 2013
Dylan Hartman came off of the DL today. This gives me an excuse to replace the dreadful Manuel Rodriguez. Also, the Atlanta Hawks said no to my trade, and I shut down negotiations. It wasn't going to work anyway. Back to the drawing board. But, Govaart Talboom won player of the week.

The Coconuts went on a dreadful 6-game skid this week, before righting themselves against Houston. We hope to take momentum from the relatively easy Houston series into Kansas City and possibly even into June. I can't find a good home for Pepe Ramirez either. I still need to take that big dump. Contract dump, that is.

Standing at 26-25 is not exactly what I'm hoping for, but hopefully we can turn it around against the horrid miners. Pitching is definitely a needy spot. But, no trade works. Not even cash.

Pitching stinks. Need to upgrade in the draft, which is in 5 days. We scored 10 runs and lost by seven. Grrrrr. We are 28-29, and got swept by Washington. I have no clue what to do. That's the problem. I'm definitely not willing to trade away prospects, but that's all anybody wants. I'm beyond clueless.

Portland offered me a trade. One of my best prospects, a pitcher at that, for a mediocre middle reliever? No. But the draft is today, so I'll see you after the draft. We pick eleventh in a 20 round draft.

After Draft
I must say I'm pretty happy with our selections. The pool wasn't the best, but I did what I could.
Top 10 Picks:
1-SP Howard Carter-Future Ace. Great potential at only 17
2-CF Luis Mejia-Can move anywhere in the outfield. Great prospect, can already imagine Pronk-Talboom-Mejia in the outfield.
3-MR Dave Foster-Future anchor in the pen. Great control.
4-SP Angel Moran-Great everything. Another possible future ace.
5-1B Richard Ellem-Will end up being a solid backup
6-SP Tim McNeil-Nothing much
7-SS Christian Pearson-Another OK backup
8-CF Alfred Watkins-Perennially mediocre
9-LF Terry Young-Mediocre at best
10-SP Stanley Lowson-Minor leaguer forever

Negotiations tomorrow!
