Negro Leaguers?

Is there a way I can get a Lahman-like database of negro leaguers that I can import individually into the game? Like with the normal, historical major leaguers, I could import any player, any year?

I looked into the Spritze/Gambo DB's and they don't really seem to be what I am looking for.

No. That would be a major project. Realistically there isn't enough data available to make the construction of such a db feasible at this point in time.

While there is not a DB that has just Negro Leaguers, you can use the spritze DB to import them. I have Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige & Cool Papa Bell in my ABF league all of which I imported in separate seasons.
Open Sprizte's Master or batting, I am using Master as i could not find Josh Gibson in the master ( i know he is there just was impatient) Get an idea of who who want to import based on the 1st 5 letters of the last name 1st 2 of the 1st name. the # i beleive tends to be 99 but not positive.
create a text/notepad file of all teh players you want to import and then use the import historical player and import them.

There might be an easier way i just dont know what that would be. PM Spritze for more info?

OK Thanks. So I could just use the Spritze DB to import Negro Leaguers as I would the Lahman? That would be cool.

I'm really only looking for a certain set of about 100 negro leaguers in their prime, so I can run a negro league league similar to my other Strat-o-Matic Leagues.

I see no reason why not, just gotta find what Spritze has for their ID so you can import them from his DB. Play aropund with the master.cvs. I have openoffice, it loads better in Excel. And i want to say as with my example of Gibson that it will have FA next to their name in the batting or pitching .cvs. Obviously a few like Satch played MLB. Gibson in my ABF is not the player i was hoping he would be. .251 lifetime hitter just a shade over 100 HR through 9 sns. Satch has been great. 2.76 lifetime ERA a shade over 140 wins and 2 POTY awards. in 9 seasons.

I have to agree. Its hard because i think sometimes negro leaguers are rated to high. Sure Robinson, Gibson and Paige were great but it seems like even they can be rated to high.

I want to create a Negro League only league, similar to my Strat-o-Matic projects. My league would have 6 teams with the best of the Negro Leaguers, in their best season.

There would be no problems with players being rated "too high" or "too low", because they are playing against themselves, not Major Leaguers.

Cooperstown did a couple of Negro League Quickstarts for OOTP11... They are on OOTPMODS.com under the templates section... You could convert them from 11 to 12, 12 to 13 and finally 13 to 14...
