Don't Understand This
I'm playing with scouting and coaching fully utilized. I had a guy in the rookie league hit over .300 and lead the league in homers. My hitting cosch in rookie league is rated outstanding at both handling rookies and teaching hitting. Then, in December, the players current rating fell from 35 to 24, and his potential fell from 45 to 35. What gives?
I disregarded this, promoted him to A ball, and he's currently hitting .292 with 26 homers at the end of July. Are these ratings essentially meaningless? I have also seen guys selected as player or pitcher of the month in the majors immediately preceding a rescouting that then had their current ratind downgraded by 4-5 points, while others on the dl for extended periods had their current ratings improve. None of this makes any sense to me! Thoughts? |

Good question. I guess this is why some people turn off scouts and coaches.

The scouting system is setup with 'fog of war' and is not 100% accurate to provide more of a challenge. You can change this by going to League Setup>Global Setup and change 'Scouting Accuracy' to '100% Accurate'. I personally set mine to 'Low' because I like that the ratings aren't accurate, I never rely on pure ratings alone anyhow, If his stats are good enough he gets promoted to see how he responds regardless of what my scout says.

And this is why I play stats-only. I don't have to worry about seeing rating drops; only performance matters.

As to the OP, a 35 overall is still a solid major-leaguer, at least in theory. It also depends on how good the other players in the league/universe are. If everyone else got better, but one particular guy didn't, then his current/potential overall ratings will suffer.
How did his individual ratings change, if at all? That's about all I look at anymore. |
