Historical League question

(Originally posted this in the wrong place -- just discovered there's a separate iOOTP forum)

Just downloaded iOOTP to my iPad, and started playing the 1948 season. Love it so far, but have the following questions.

How do I send players down to minors, and bring up players from minors? I'm managing the 1948 Brooklyn Dodgers, and a few players who were with them when the season started (Gil Hodges, Eddie Miksis) are listed on their minor league roster. I'd like to bring them up.

Do I have any control over other teams besides the one I'm managing? OOTP has put Hank Sauer on the New York Giants roster, and I'd like to trade him back to the Reds, where he belongs.

I seem to only be able to play the Brooklyn Dodgers games. Can I also play other teams' games? At the very least, how do I go back to a point where I can also enable the American League and manage a team there?

Thanks in advance.

Select player, then Action button for list of options i.e. sending players to minors or majors.
Technically, you can switch to manage another team during a season, but the game is set up to pick a team then manage it for the season or many seasons. Occasionally you'll see posts of players who have managed a team for 50, 100, 150 years.
To switch, go to manager> manager options> action
Odd that Sauer is on wrong team. Select him and check his History to see if he was traded.
It would be awkward and frustrating to manage more than one team. You would have to switch back and forth all under the same name. Not realistic. You can quick simulate all games from the league options, but it is not necessary.
To manage another team, you would start another 1948 season as that team. Of course it would be different than the one you're currently playing.

I did finally figure out the majors/minors thing, just in time, because the Dodgers major league roster only had eight pitchers on it. I mean, those were the days when men were men, and pitchers still pitched complete games, but eight is a little thin.

And I also found the "league news" page, where I discovered that the cyber-general managers of the Reds and Giants had made a trade. I also found the Enable Trades button and disabled it, but too late for poor Hank, and I don't suppose I can trade him back. I guess now that I understand things a little better, I could take the nuclear option and start the season over. I'm only six games in. Or I could switch teams, trade Sauer back, and then switch back again. Or live with it, but that's weird.

Thinking about it, this does create something of a problem. If you enable the trades function, then the cyber general managers do odd things like trading Hank Sauer to the Giants. But what if you're trying to play a historically accurate historical season, including in-season trades? There weren't any earth-shaking in-season trades in 1948, but still... I guess you'd have to turn re-enable the trade function, change the team you're managing, make the trade, disable the trade function, change back to the original team again.

There should be a league commissioner control, so that you could make those trades.

Changing teams

If you do change to manage a different team in order to make a trade, keep in mind that while you are with that new team, the AI has taken over your old team.

After the trade, when you go back to your original team, you might want to check to see that the AI has not in your absence called up a minor league kid (starting his salary), undone your depth chart, rearranged your rotation, etc.

In other words, best to change teams and trade before the season begins.

From reading other threads, I think that you cannot replay a season historically (i.e. have all the historic trades and no others) on iOOTP, but need to play the full OOTP. I am not speaking from experience on that.
