"What If" You Had a Time Machine?
I will post the sim results from the "What if" Time Machine league here. To see the team selection thread follow the link.
I am planning on simming two weeks per day. That way it does not go too fast but hopefully fast enough to keep everyone interested. I'm also considering doing a video update or too. What would you guys think of that? I'll try to get as much stuff as I can in the written posts but I think the video would allow me to capture more. Just something I'm exploring. Without further ado...I'm going to start the sim!

It is hard to see any trends in the first two weeks of the season. Teams start hot and others cold. So we'll have to keep watching to see how things will eventually unfold. It will be interesting to see how injuries to John Candelaria and Bob Patterson will effect the Pirates and Rangers. Fortunately, no major injuries and all of the imported stars are in tact! Hopefully I've included enough info for you guys to peruse from the first two weeks. If there's anything specific you would like to see just ask! I guess Smoltz didn't want to close either.
Good start for the Braves though. If you can, post my lineups/pitching staff. Thanks for doing this! |

After 4 weeks of the season we are starting to get a picture of how this season will play out. Although no definitive conclusions can be made, there are some indicaors as to what we can expect:

Sweet! Nice to be in front, but that nice 6 game streak appears to have come against Houston & Texas
who are off to terrible starts. Can I see my lineups & staff too please (Toronto), thanks. |

The Royals are notorious for slow starts, even in the heyday. So, no surprise that they are struggling a month in.
Hows Bo doing? Does Bo know HR's yet? |

Which Frank Robinson is fairing better. Robinson is Baltimore or Cincinnati?

Even more of a non-issue, since they're not from the same year. The Sox chose 2000 Pedro, while my Expos have the '96 Pedro, who was actually on the team that year. |

Can Hornsby hit .400? The legendary Cubs second baseman is leading the league with a .409 average. He's also leading the league with an amazing .503 OBP. Interestingly, Hornsby is one of four players with an OPS of 1.100 or more led by Harmon Killebrew's 1.126.Rogers is also tied for the league lead in WAR with Reds' great Joe Morgan (3.0). Who's going to win the NL West? All six teams are within four games of each other. St. Louis and Cincinnati are at the top of the division but neither team appears to want first place as they have each lost their last three games. In fact, all six teams are between 6-4 and 4-6 in their past 10 games. I'm not sure if that means that division is really good or really mediocre. Any chance at a miracle comeback? Right now the Tigers, Twins, Royals, Rangers, Phillies and Mets are all under a .400 winning pct. Can any of them turn it around? The Twins have one of the league's most dangerous hitters in Killebrew and a dominant ace in Johan Santana. The Tigers are right in the middle of the pack in both pitching and hitting and aren't getting great performances form several of their top players. The Phillies have possibly the league's best staff but can their bullpen hold? The Mets can't be really that bad either, can they? Here are a few team screens:
Cincinnati Reds NOTE: Frank Robinson is alternating between LF and RF and has 36 starts and 131 AB (.336-9-26) but has played less games than the listed starters (Pete Rose and George Foster) at each. ![]() Montreal Expos ![]() Atlanta Braves ![]()

Gaylord Perry is looking like a pretty solid pick right now. Go Tribe!

Man, Zimmerman and Rogers have been really... meh. And yet everyone else has gotten us to the division lead (barely). I guess that proves that the '96 Expos truly were an underperforming team.
However, on the Frank Robinson issue, it's a little late now, but I just realized that, according to the rules as established, both teams couldn't possibly pick the same guy - you had to pick a player from a year they actually played for your team. In this case, the Reds shouldn't have the '66 version of Robinson, since he played on Baltimore that year. |
