Player Development Question
If you have an international complex and reserve rosters (no minors)...
Is there a difference is how players develop based upon which list they are on? I would imagine that they are coded in a similar manner. For example, am I better off stashing a developmental player aged 16-20 (who is not ready to contribute on the active roster) on the reserve roster or leaving them in the international complex? |

Service time
I am not sure whether they would develop at a different pace. However, players in your international complex are developing without having their pro service time clock starting. Not sure how service time works in your reserve league but if it is the same as the normal baseball settings it is best to keep prospects in the complex until they show significant improvement or hit the cut off age.

It seems you're right about this, but I'm not sure why. Players in, say, the DSL or VSL in real life accumulate service time just like players in any other minor league. So that seems like a bug to me.

Your point is valid.
Currently, I think the game values them as prospects that your organization has found that no other team is interested in/discovered. They do not have a contract, therefore no service time. However, obviously these players, theoretically, are playing somewhere in order to develop and if they are doing so under the exclusive control of your organization then maybe that should be counted as service time (?). I am not overly familiar with how it works in real life. It is a tough portion of the baseball world to simulate but it sure has added a fun level to the game. |
