Does player popularity & regionality factor in? Also, how does player popularity evolve?

Also, I didn't receive any notifications about my minor league players being selected to their respective All-Star games even though I have the notification setting set to my entire organization. Had to go find that message individually at the ML level.

I just choose the rosters myself among deserving players. AI gets a little stupid at times.

Usually good performance will raise popularity, but bad performance seems to have less effect.....

Indeed. I went to the manual selection screen and gave the computer a crack at it. It was rather disastrous. The AI really appears to overvalue the division leaders (which makes sense for MVP voting, but maybe not the All-Star game)

Is it correct that AS selections have an impact on contract negotiations, et al. I also really want to make sure a player is selected from each team.

Given that, I went through and added every teams statistically best player first (regardless of injury status) then backfilled with the statistical studs in their respective league to about 40 players each league. (similar to real world)

This will be my first crack, but I like how it's looking so far.
