Bit of advice needed ...

Hi all

Just started a new save and my roster is looking pretty strong

Unfortunately my minor league roster is non-existent with a SP who will eventually be 65 but is about 45 at the moment .... All other players are at 21-25 !!

Soooooooo ..... Before I potentially make some disastrous trades who would you recommend I look to ship out ?

I would start with your bullpen. You can get some decent prospects for each player, and relievers are always in stock in the draft, and you can get them in the Supplemental Rounds and later.

I always build a dominate rotation first. I'm talking Strasburg and Kershaw and Moore, etc. Trade what you need to trade to get them.

I also try to have my bullpen full of potential starters. Starters have the highest trade value, so if you are loaded with starters then you can trade them off and build your lineup.

I would start by trading Greinke and change for Stras or Moore. Although you might have to give up Darvish and Greinke for either one of those guys.

Cheers mate

Rotation ratings are

Kershaw 79
Felix H 79
Darvish 78
Greinke 78
Ryu 64

combined salary is about $73M for the 5 though
Not sure I can justify $14M for Soriano, $21M for Adrian Gonzalez and $17M for Napoli

I think I just went overboard - any injuries and I'm stuffed !
I think I needs a few INFs, OUTFs, MRs etc so lets hope you're right
Will take a look at that tonight

Greinke for Martin Perez, Feliz & Soria
Felix H for Skaggs
Kershaw for Shelby Miller & Allen Craig

Not sure if of these grab my attention apart from maybe the Greinke/Texas trade

I dunno if I would have given up Kershaw. He's one of the better young guys and Miller/Craig is more potential. Seriously tho you've loaded up your rotation with potential. It takes a season or two to get the machine working, but once you get it going, trading aging SPs for 2 or more prospects continuously will stock that farm system. Eventually it becomes plug and play with your lineup. The only thing you have to keep is the starting rotation. Your ace has to be THE best ace in the game. SP is what brings home the world series year in and year out.

No I haven't yet ... just wanted to see what the market was.

I could just put the majority of the team on the block and wait for offers I guess !!

My Yankees save (2023) last year had a ridiculous minor league rotation and bullpen .. better than most of the other teams starting rotations ...... does take quite a while to build that up though ... 5-10 years from memory

I never use the block. I just look at all the players in the game and say "ooh I want that guy" and then see what it takes to get him. If the price isn't too high, I pull the trigger. This year's game is a little harder to trade players, but it's still not too bad.

I've normally been trading from a position of strength where in I was going for a 75+ player and giving up maybe my 10th, 11th & 12th best position players/pitchers/relievers etc

So I lost 3 guys but got a gem ...... This year I have to only trade one guy but need about 2/3 in return !!!

Another possible trade was me giving up Ryu, Greinke/Kershaw, Tulo & kipnis but acquiring Feliz, Andrus & Profar
