Angel Hernandez

There are so many bad umpires in MLB that it is hard to select just one as the worst, but Angel Hernandez has now established himself without question as the worst umpire in baseball. It isn't just the inconsistent calls, or the total lack of awareness of what is happening in the game, or even his lack of knowledge of the rule book. His main defect now is the constant back and forth with players, managers, and coaches during the game. No call is ever dead, and no play is ever finished in an Angel Hernandez game. The arguments go on all game long, because Angel is the main arguer. The guy just won't let things go even when the players are willing to. This makes every game that he umpires totally chaotic and unpredictable for the players. You can't be sure of anything when Angel is out there and you will never hear the end of it either. He is the worst.

Agreed 100%. Angel Hernandez is simply awful.

It's not easy to single out anybody in this era of pretty dreadful umps, but Hernandez is certainly a Hall of Shame candidate.
