Bad In-Game AI Decision

Thought about posting this in the Bug Report thread, but it's not exactly a bug, per se... still something that should be fixed, though.

It's a tie game, 5-5, in the bottom of the 9th. There are runners on first and second, with one out. My batter hits a line drive into left field. I get the dialogue asking me if I want my runner to try for home. I decide to test the left fielder's arm and send him. And then this happens:

The shortstop cuts off the throw that's heading for home to stop the winning run from scoring, and tries to get the runner at third instead. Even if Sale had been called out at third, the run still would have scored - remember, there was only one out. Under no circumstances does the runner heading for third matter in the least; it should have been a play at the plate to decide the game.

Personally, I have no problem reconciling it in my head to imagine that there WAS a play at the plate, and Garcia beat it out. But regardless, it's a situation that warrants attention; that throw to third should never have happened.

I have reported that one.

Obviously there was no play at the plate so the cut-off is meaningless, but it sure pulls you out of the immersion!

The play description just needs one more line:

"Bonehead play by Escobar! ... er, Brett!"
