Altered database - no changes in game...
I've spent the last couple of days creating my own fictional database for my Gaelic-Canadian nation. I've altered the world xml (I've altered Guatemala its cities and regions to my fictional nation of Kernow Island) and some of the names/first names and ethnicities. I've saved the data in a folder called Kernow Database here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\default_data However whenever I have tried to alter the database in game either using the custom data path in the expert settings or the source database no alterations either in the nations or names show up. I've set the custom data path to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\default_data\Kernow Database It uploaded a lot of data for about 10 minutes, but when I entered custom league Guatemala was still in place and Kernow Island was not and the names/ethnicities I had added didn't show up at all (ie. I started a Turkish league as I had altered all the Turkish names for Gaelic Welsh names, however all the players still had the original Turkish names). Meanwhile, when I try and add a different source database there is no option for Kernow Database, it doesn't show up in the root path, only the default database shows up. As far as I know my coding in the world xml is sound as are the names, I do not understand why it will not show up. Can somebody give me a step by step guide or tell me what I am doing wrong? |

When you installed the game, did you let it install itself in the default manner or did you install it in a custom folder??? Looks like your path is incorrect...Default install for the data files would look like something this I think...
C:\Users\Administrator or your user name\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\data |

That's where it default loaded itself. All the games on my laptop are auto loaded into the program files path... I'm not entirely sure why. I wouldn't have thought it would make the game unable to find my database, but find the default database, but I'm not entirely sure.

What OS are you using? Is this on a Mac?
For I am referring to Windows 7 OS... Your looking in the wrong folder... You need to look in the data folder not the default data... This is where your world.dat file, name files, ethic files, etc reside... This is where you need to put your modded files at... Be sure to backup the original files before you replace them in case you want to go back or something screws up... C:\Users\Administrator or your user name\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 14\data\database |

Ah, I figured it out. You were right there were identical files under users. For some reason it seems to have duplicate folders in my program files and users. To confuse things further, inside my Kernow Database folder all the default data, including the original database had been transposed inside (probably when I set a custom data path) so I removed all but the database files from the folder, reset the custom data path and it is now working. Took a bit of trial and error, but at least I know what mistakes were made!
Thanks for your help. |
