Players becoming coaches..

I am starting to notice a pattern of players that were batters becoming pitching coaches and players who were pitchers becoming hitting coaches.

Is this a random assignment and I just got REALLY unlucky or is this just a flaw in the game?

It is random. Just edit them to the kind of coach you would prefer. It takes about two seconds. If it was not possible for us to edit them quickly and easily (we have almost total control over everything), then it would be a flaw in the game.

BTW, I have no objection to catchers becoming pitching coaches (Dave Duncan, for example) but pitchers definitely should not be hitting coaches.

Lol, no. It's a flaw regardless of how easy it is to fix it. A fixable flaw is still a flaw. If players occasionally aged 5 years instead of 1 on their birthday, that'd be easy to fix too, but it'd still be a major flaw.

By the way, it'd take me a lot longer than two seconds to go through all the hitting and pitching coaches, figure out which ones are new, figure out if they were players or not, then fix the coach.

It's a flaw in the game....as I stared in another thread..staff and coaches is an area of the game that really needs some work IMO

you see it a lot in real life former players becoming coaches and managers. I do not see it as a flaw or anything like that. When it comes to GM's then that's rare that a former player to become one but not unheard of.

It's more the idea the pitchers are becoming hitting coaches and things of that nature that make it a flaw

Yea, this. It seem like every manager or coach I ran into that was a former player (small sample size but I can say about 50 or so different guys have this same pattern) started his coaching career coaching the opposite position he played on the field.

It was cool to see Derek Jeter as a coach but was weird that he's a pitching coach.

With the pattern Ive seen (small sample size) it seem like it wasn't random but a bug of some sort.

The entire coaching system is flawed and needs an overhaul. Most users don't use the system anyway, so the demand is too little to initiate any change.

In my league, Derek Jeter retired to run for the Senate.

I like those kind of story lines that pop up.

I had one the other day where a relief pitcher was arrested and charged with fraud, he was involved in a ponzi scheme. He said he was an innocent victim and he would prove his innocence with a high priced lawyer.

A month or two later another story popped up saying he was convicted, it said there was a mountain of evidence against him and his high priced lawyers could do nothing. He faced 5 years in prison and he retired.

It was rather amusing.

Lol, yes. We just disagree about the meaning of the word "flaw".

I guess I'm just faster than you. Takes me no time at all. Kind of fun too because I can make sure the facegen on former players turned coaches is updated.

Some people adjust, some people complain. The way of the world.

Arrogant much? Guess MLK wasn't your kind of guy since he complained instead of adjusting.

You are seriously going to compare a toy, which is what this game is, remember, a toy, with the civil rights struggle? You are seriously going to compare all the harping, whining, and complaining that goes on here with the bold, courageous action of MLK and others in the civil rights movement?

Get real.
