Player Training

In OOTP's past, there was an offseason point where you could have players work on certain aspects of their game. As a fan of the Reds, I would always have Adam Dunn work on his contact hitting. Now, I would do the same with Jay Bruce.

So, position players could work on certain aspects of hitting or fielding. Pitchers could work on a new pitch. Of course, it wouldn't always work. But, it's just another level of realism. And one that used to exist.

I agree training during offseason or perhaps as well during the season where some players still practice hitting and fielding although during the season I think the skill level should progress much slower than during Spring Training but the idea would be there

As a fan of the Sox, did it ever help?

No which is why I don't see any connection to reality or realism.

Dunn has either not worked on anything like making better contact or whatever he has worked on was unsuccessful and even accelerated his decline. To me his career statistical path looks like the classic "old player skills" type with his decline happening since age 28.

player training would be good for learning a new position .... that's what the Tigers did for Cabrerra for when he needed to learn first base position before Fielder came over in a free agent signing. I am reasonably sure that this happens more than we know or realize.

That's already in the game. I use it all the time.

what I do now is before spring training or just after the world series I change their primary position to something else so as for them to "learn" that position. At least its an idea.
