What data does the game generate college names/nicknames from?

I edited schools.txt in my /database directory so that it only contained Division 1 colleges, but the game is still generating Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Hawks and other uselsess college teams when I create a new college feeder league. I've checked the file, and it's correctly edited, and I restarted the game, so obviously the game is drawing this information from some other place than that file. Does anyone know where? TIA for any correct answers.

If you edited the file after you created your initial league, those changes won't affect it, even a newly added feeder. It draws from the file on creation than uses that data for as long as you run the league.

If you edit those files, you need to start a new league.

At least that's my understanding from the way Markus and Andreas explained it.

I started a new league, and at creation added a new college feeder. It did not use the edited college names. I do not know why.

IIRC all schools.txt does is put colleges in the draft history if you don't have a feeder league. Feeder league names / nicknames are generated in the same way as any other team name.

Got one almost done...Starts Jan. 1 2013. Full D1 with Real teams in the correct conf. and real 2013 rosters...all 299+/- of them ...should be done by Sunday..Monday eve at the latest..doesn't include stats yet..

Save you some time if you want it..it's the d1 work that Lucas and I have been working on for the community roster project..

I just finished a 128-team Div I template with correct cities and Justafan logos. Now if I can just figure out how to change it from an indepenent league into a feeder league, I'll have it made.
