Financials issue....could this be right?

I have a 16 team fictional league. I simed ten years then took over as GM for a team. After 5 years I noticed my budgets being decreased by $5MM each year and the financial page always show the next year anticipated budget to be lower. I assumed that it was because my team performance was so poor and my owner was an "economizer". This caused severe problems in that I had as many as 6 draft choices in the first three rounds but could not sign any because of their high demands and my lack of budget room.
I have now checked each team in the league and they ALL show lower budgets year after year even with extremely successful teams and "generous" owners. Every team now has a budget much lower than it had 15 years ago.
HOW CAN THIS BE?
Draftees demands are inflating as you would expect over time but team budgets are deflating. Eventually every team will be unable to sign potential stars. I am concerned.

What are league finances and team revenues like? Are they making lots of money, a little, or barely squeeking by or losing money?

You may have to adjust your financials to increase revenue. Hard to say without knowing what's going on in the big picture.

Thanks. I'll have to look at the profits. Can you advise me what adjustments to make in the financials? This is pretty confusing to me.

Well, until I know more about your financials, I can't really give any advice. Wouldn't want to lead you in the wrong direction.

For starters, under league reports look at the "Financial" report.

Are most teams showing in the red or black? By how much?

Also, a screen shot of your league financial settings would be helpful.

Also, your fictional league - what was your start year? Modern day, historical?

Did you select the financials for that year when setting it up?

What are league attendance figures like?

Another good report to look at is under Statistics, where it shows your batting leaders and what not. There's a tab at the top for "Team Statistics and Info". Once there, click the "Finances" button. Here you can get an overview of team market sizes, fan interest, loyalty, and avg attendance.
