PBP, MGR, or GM
Hey there. New to the forum, but not new to the game. Love OOTP, all versions. OOTP 14 is amazing.
Just curious, how do you all play your games (Each pitch, Manager, or GM)? Plus, the webcast makeover is great. One thing is, that I wish that the ball/strike monitor at the lower left corner included the MPH. Other than that, the game is great and works for me. Last edited by samd; 04-16-2013 at 04:21 PM. I've always taken a "hands-on GM" approach. I let the AI or Manager if I am playing with full coaching on, handle the lineups and depth charts. I use the "force start" to have certain players playing when and where I want them (which is where the hands on part of my description came from) at all levels of the organization.
I handle everything else then, though in my new OOTP14 MLB Quickstart, I've decided to let the AI handle promotion/demotion at the minor league levels, and just use the "lock player/disable AI promotion/demotion" on key prospects that I want to control how they move through the system. So far it is working well, I also have it set to no ghost players, so the AI has to revamp the minors everytime I make a move at the MLB level, or move a major prospect around, and so far it seems to be doing an ok job at it. That would be my question to everyone else in this thread: Do you see the AI doing anything wonky with ghost players enabled at the minor league level. I want to say last year, it would fill top down, and not pay as much attention to where a player should be in the system with ghost players on I think. |

I play out each game, though I only go down to pitch-by-pitch when I am considering stealing a base. (The one-pitch doesn't handle that very well, in my opinion.)
This season I decided to let my manager set the line-ups... just to see how I like it. The jury is out. Last edited by rpriske; 04-17-2013 at 03:55 PM. |

Nice. It would be cool to be able to choose the pitch that the pitcher throws (fastball, slider, etc.) with location.
