Frontier Baseball Association: Albuquerque Comets 2013-?

Hey everyone, this is the first dynasty report/fictional league I've done and I hope you come to enjoy it. I'll try to add some storyline/background to everything, being my first one I might have to adjust as I go. Big shout out to everyone involved in making and developing the best baseball series and games I personally have ever played. Another s/o to the great modders whose logos (cephasjames mainly, great work btw) I'm using, all you guys are awesome! Sorry to any unconscious/conscious idea jacking, just means my brain enjoyed your ideas

Anyway...without further delay, screens and details, details first. Thanks again for still reading this far and hopefully into the future

League: Frontier Baseball Association (fictional)

-16 teams, 4 divisions

-2 conferences (leagues): National Baseball Conference (NBC) and American Baseball Conference (ABC)

-American has DH rule

-Inaugural league draft (random order, AI only to complete draft)

-Manager name: Joe Simps

-Team to run: Albuquerque Comets

-Ratings: ratings are set 1-100 for all categories except overall which is on the 20-80 scale

:NOTE: Will be using iOOTP to start and possibly finish league. Probably not though if I can ever finish editing in OOTP 14 lol

More details, league creation history, owners, and league pics continue next post...

League pt 1

League Creation

June 21, 2012

A group of ambitious entrepreneurs have gathered together to talk about the possible creation of a brand new major league level baseball league. These 16 prospective owners have heard an overwhelming outcry that Americans have grown tired of the rampant steroid use in the MLB, and that the lack of quick and thorough PED testing implementation leaves them wondering if Selig and company are still trying to wean every last dollar out of the quickly closing steroid era.
River Williams, one of the most vocal members of the group, has challenged the others to invest and see how far they can take the fledgling league in competition versus the MLB.
After a week of furious debate, brainstorming, and calculating, the collective group has rounded up some cities willing and able to receive a franchise. This includes cities/areas that may or may not already have MLB teams in the vicinity.
All the paperwork is signed and the league is ready to take off, the owners even decided to take the rule set and all the same. The FBA will even have its opening day the same as the incumbent league!

Albuquerque Comets team info

(I did not specifically choose a team for market or ownership, it was strictly random. I made the choice based on whichever conference and team showed up first on the screen and list)

Albuquerque Comets (American Conference, Division 2)

Manager: Joe Simps (25 yrs old)

Joe Simps

Manager Joe Simps has thrown himself into the fire by accepting the Albuquerque Comets gig out of the newly formed Frontier Baseball Association. Simps, just 25 years of age, only made it to the collegiate level before blowing his elbow out pitching, effectively ending his baseball career. Now as the youngest manager in sports, Joe is looking to overcome the fact that many of his players are older or close to the same age as him. Will he be able to make it through the issues and successfully guide this franchise to the playoffs as owner River Williams has asked? Or will he flounder in the inaugural season at the helm of the Comets?

Owner: River Williams (63 yrs old)

Let's take a look at the organization's top 3 prospects followed by the team's top 3 overall players:

Top 3 Major Leaguers

Top 3 Major League Players:

Sebastien Dionne, MR, 25 yrs old

Kinnosuke Ogura, LF, 28 yrs old

Ryan Scott, 2B, 29 yrs old

With a pretty thin amount of talent available in the minor leagues(Andrew Caldwell is the organization's top prospect and he is only rated to top out at 56/80 as a middle reliever), the Comets will have to look to Simps' managing/GM ability, as well as, the combined ability of the major league roster to make some sort of run now and into the future. Albuquerque's top 3 players are 76/80 or greater so they at least have something to work with. Dionne, the fourth pick of the inaugural draft and the Comets first overall pick, will close for the club this year into the future. At only 25(same age as his manager), can hopefully sprinkle some of his talent down to some other players

Depth Chart/Lineups/Pitching Rotation for Comets

Depth Chart

Depth chart goes as follows and will be universal for all depth charts/lineups. Simps is not big on platoons so he has decided to plug and play as he goes along and gets more of a feel for the players and their skills.

Lineup

Same applies here as the depth chart. The Comets are also playing in the American Conference, which means DH, so Joe will fill in the position based on matchups.

Pitching Rotation

Not much to note as of yet, rookie Bautista opens the season as the #3 starter on the team after being named the #7 prospect in all of the FBA.

Closer look

Going a little farther into the top players of the Frontier Baseball Association before Opening Day is set to start. Player overviews for top batter and pitchers:

Allen Jarvis, C, 27 yrs old

Jarvis was selected by the Memphis Ports in the inaugural draft as the #1 overall pick and the Ports are hoping he can live up to his lofty draft selection.

Alfredo Fuentes, MR, 26 yrs old

Fuentes will either close or setup for the K-Nines but at the moment is undecided for Opening Day.

Ken Dixon, SP, 28 yrs old

Dixon is the top rated starter prior to Opening Day, the Tucson Leafs are hoping he can stay as such the entire season.

Juan Luna, CL, 26 yrs old

At only 26, Luna is the top rated closer in the FBA and with the wicked stuff he possesses(100 Stuff/80 Movement current ratings), only time will tell how many saves he will be able to rack up.

The Comets and Joe Simps come from behind in the late innings to take the victory on Opening Day from divisional rival, the Fort Worth Express.

Player of the Game:
Ryan Scott, 2B, Albuquerque Comets
3-4, 2 1B, 2B, RBI
Scott helped start the comeback rally with an RBI double in the 7th inning. As one of the top players on the team, this is nice to see on Opening Day.

Comets record: (1-0)
