Wmma 3

I know there are a few MMA fans here so I wanted to put out a heads up that WMMA 3 is released, not so much to prop the game up, but because it has some very interesting features that could be implemented in one way or another into TBCB role playing since it is also a fight sim.

I would check out the demo just to look at the different options. Obviously MMA is not completely compatible to boxing and I am not endorsing "stealing" things from another game, but the way the calendar functions and the scheduling AI are very clean and it shows some ways diferent aspects of a fighting role playing sim can be handled.

It also makes diary writing very easy and adds a lot of different options you can track.

I have linked my MMA diary below as an example.

Not really interested in MMA sims, but I checked out your link and found that one guy used a style known as "Norweigan Whale Wrestling." I might just check the demo out when I have some free time...

I tried to DL the demo of the old game and it wouldn't run. I'll give it another shot here, thanks for the heads up.

When you've downloaded the game/demo, try right clicking on icon and "run as administrator". I had the same problem awhile back and was advised to do the same...worked fine after that.

Lee -

Is this a big improvement over WMMA 1 ?? Does the fight engine itself seem more accurate / plausible ?

Or are most upgrades simply related around the Managing / promotional aspects?

Thanks

I think the fight engine is a big improvement over WMMA 1 and WMMA 2. Far more positions, strikes, and subs plus things seem to flow better and alot more realistically in this one then in the last two.

I would agree completely with what Romy said, the fight engine is much improved and it is a very well rounded game now IMO.

I'm not a fan of MMA, but I downloaded the demo and there are things about this game/sim that I really like. Some interesting feature that could/should be adapted for TBCB.

Thanks for the heads-up, Lee. I might even buy WMMA3!

One thing I don't like is that the pictures of many of the fighters have a cartoony look to them. I much prefer the style of pics that I have created for my TBCB fictional universe using the free version of FaceGen:

This is a awesome game and I urge any fight fan to get it,its everything we want TBCB 3 to be and more. It can definitely hold me over until TBCB 3 comes out in 2015 or 16.

Thanks for this Lee. I'm going to download this. Was going to get WMMA2 but never did, then forgot all about it, so glad you posted this up.

Been reading through your uni you posted up as well and enjoying it. A real fun, enjoyable read.

Yes it is, I would be in heaven if TBCB 3 can become a similar game.

MMA? Surely this is a sign of the Apocalypse! Bad enough that this schoolyard wrasslin gets a full page in the same local paper that ignores boxing completely, but to see it promoted here....

The lack of TB3 kind of forces us to. The sentiment is spot on tho, if the game engine of WMMA3 was used but without mma rules and aspects and with boxing as its engine it would be what I imagine all of us want TB3 to be like as far as the role playing or management angle

Agreed, the level of detail is not comparable. It's very modifiable as well so the potential is limitless. I saw some of Lee's posts, and it got me curious, and I am glad I purchased it.

WMMA3 is a good game but I feel, as far as I can judge, that TBCB has a better engine and puts out "better" results by quite a margin. You seldom see a result that you couldn't believe (all the cuts aside). They are infact so rare that when you see them you get the feeling that anything can happen i boxing and appreciate the curve ball that just got served.

Perhaps a bit unfair to compare as WMMA is based around fictional fighters (without the mods) and the fact that MMA itself is much more "anything can happen" than boxing and guys with a 3-1 record can beat a champion with a 12-10 record on a regular basis.

MMA kicks ass, I'd watch it if it was the 1940's.
