Lets create some buzz

People, lets create some buzz about this game. If you're a member on other forums, mention the game...no spamming or anything, but considering there is no rival, there is nothing wrong on posting on SI Forums for instance...

Reason being, outside of OOTP forums, there is very very little info about this game. We want it to be a success.

SI Games forum is aware of it thanks to me and Archi (and any others who I might have missed!) International Hockey Forums is aware of it too. I posted there but they don't seem like a gaming bunch...

I will say this though, I do find it odd that for a game that is supposedly being released within the next few months, or weeks even, (assuming it stays early 2013) OOTP Developments doesn't even have a website up dedicated to the game yet.

Here's hoping we get a final features list, some more screen shots, release info etc.. soon.

But again, I don't want things rushed, SO TAKE YOUR TIME Sebastian and crew. I just have a hard time believing the "early 2013" apparent release date when we hardly have any official info yet..especially considering there may even be a beta.

Anyways, we all know this game will kick ass. It's just a matter of how long until we can all play it?

So far, there's just been some cursory discussion over there, but I'm hoping it will take off as we get more details on the game and release.

I think that for ensuring continuity of FHM it will be important to create strong community around the game. By community I mean quite large group of people who will:
- play the game, share their experiences and tips&tricks, maybe write manuals, report bugs, providing feature requests and discussing the game on different places on the Internet
- create and play online leagues, talk about them and try to pull other people in
- create all kinds of extensions for the game - logo packs, face packs, various roster packs, custom schedules and league rules sets, data about existing (and not covered by default) and also about fictional leagues and teams, name/city packs, etc.

This way we could attract more people to the game and "generate" higher income for the developers which should motivate them more to create better and better further versions. It would be very sad if the game ended after the first or second version.
Do you have any other ideas how to help keeping FHM for the future?

I will open a section in my board on the weekend so this can follow in the footsteps of the EHM 2009.

Franchise Hockey Manager 13 (From devs of OOTP baseball) - HFBoards
Yep. I'm doing my best to get the word out on the Penguins board there and am going to hype it up in the GDT for the season opener.

yeah.

i'm really trying to further that quite a bit by sending messages to FHM devs and such hoping to get the TBN sim leagues involved...

it'd be nice to get a site with at least 300+ online hockey users at all times and 60,000 total members to commit to FHM to help cement the franchise but alas -.-

I have noticed it is starting to get pretty quite around here. The truth is that there is very little to discuss IMHO.

I think it would be smart to start releasing some more screenshots and write ups on features. These forums were buzzing after a simple list of basic features. They were buzzing even more after 3 simple screenshots. There was even a little press coverage after these came out. A thread exploded after a 4th screenshot (the one in the "The Standings?" thread that gave the league set-up options).

It is hard for the community to create buzz when we are given such a small idea of what the finished product will look like. A simple screenshot a day would keep the community engaged till release with excited questions and insightful comments.

I remember way back when Riz was working on the original EHM. He was releasing beta versions of the game every so often.

Ok, with that being freeware he was able to do that....

We definitely need more screenshots, or even something that SI do leading up to a release, short writeups on features.

Information and screenshot releasing would certainly help but you have to consider that there is very small developer team and everything they have to do besides coding is holding them back and us from the game. I'm saying this because screenshot/info every day is not what the community _needs_. If they'd give us news every week we should be very happy I think.

Completely agree. ANYTHING would be more than what we are getting right now. At this point in the development, it is kind of sad that there is only one developer diary on top of this forum. A short little write up every few days with a new screenshot is something that takes maybe 1/2 an hour. Well worth the time invested from the developers perspective IMHO.

For the french community, we have a thread too : Franchise Hockey Manager : Autour d'un verre

I think, it will be more used by members when the first release was ready.

In dev's defense, I'd rather them work on the project then inform us on what theyre doing.

but some more screens would be nice, but they just upset me cause then I realize how bored I am with EHM.
