Importing Historical Players

I have a "fantasy" league with all time great players from all eras.

Santa brought me a book about the great 1924 Baseball season and I got the names of 50 great players from that year that I thought I could use in my league like Kiki Cuyler, Joe Hauser, Sam Rice, Ross Youngs, etc.

I imported each player individually at the start of his baseball career so I chose the "remaining years of career" base potential ratings option. I also had the "import player into draft pool" option checked.

I've played two years in the game, but I can't find the names of any of the players in the draft pool, the Rule 5 draft pool. They're in the "Free Agent" Pool, but there is no option to "offer a contract" to them.

What did I do wrong? What setting should I use the allow these players to appear in a draft pool or as a free agent that can be signed?

Or should I just re-import the players over again and uncheck the "import player into draft pool?"

My guess is that you're running a random debut league. I'm not sure if imported players will show up along with the random debut rookies. Regardless, they're not going to show up in the Rule 5 draft. It will be the rookie draft or free agent pool. And if you're not using free agency or not controlling a team, that could be the problem. Are you controlling any teams so that the transaction options will be available?
