Stopping service time

I had a pitching prospect, I called him up and in 2 starts, he put up 13.1 innings of shutout ball for a 2-0 record, before tearing his UCL. I put him on the 60 day DL (not like I could demote him beforehand). The next season, he gave me 8 starts before going back on the DL. All this time, he's acquiring major service time. The league turned back the arbitration requirement to 2 years, and he became eligible for arbitration. The arbitrator gave him $7 million. This put my team way over budget.

How do I prevent this from happening again?

Not sure if there's a way within the game to keep players from collecting service time while on the disabled list. That's a very hefty arbitration award for a guy who made 10 starts and has suffered serious injuries twice, though. Might be a way to adjust your evaluation settings to keep that from happening.

Commissioner mode.
1) You can change the arb years back to 3.
2) You can use the player editor to change service time.
3) You can remove the injury, demote him to AAA and give him the injury back.

The Dl accrues service time because that is how MLB works. You will have to go outside of the game engine and do some commissioner changes.

Pretty sure he's looking for setting changes since he says he wants to avoid it happening again. It would get pretty tedious to go into commissioner mode and edit service time every time a big league player gets injured.

Eliminate arbitration. Any other move for just your players would give you a huge advantage over AI teams.
