Fictional League questions
I've been looking at OOTP off and on for a few years, and wanted to try something different. To have an alternate universe by starting in 1902 and evolving through the ages. I have no idea if this would actually work, and I suspect this problem came up before, but a I couldn't find it in a quick search. So, I set up a fictional league with full minor leagues and feeder leagues starting in 1902 (I set this on the financial page for major leagues). There is an inaugural draft, and go through the first year. Overall, the stats in the majors look reasonable (deadball era and all). But, there is a major problem in the minors. While the league leader in HR at the major league level is 6, at AAA, AA, A, it is 61, 49, and 53, respectively! I looked at the ballparks, and I don't see any abnormal effects, nor do I see anything seemingly abnormal in the league strategy windows. And, none of the players appear to have ratings that would indicate these stats, with which they should be in the majors! Does anyone know what could be going on? Did I miss a hidden box to check?
Second question is on the number of feeder leagues. I started with four college and eight high school leagues of the same structure as the majors. Is this about right? I forgot to mention that I am using the most current version. Last edited by weo; 11-10-2012 at 05:02 PM. Reason: Added version using |

Hmm, I definitely must be doing something wrong (not that I can see at least), since there are 72 views and not a thought. Oh well.

Look for Biggio's Feeder League Guide thread. i would say it is too few feeders. You can edit minor leagues for the same era under that league league setup strategy.

Thanks for the tip on feeders. As for the other problem, I thought that maybe it would be solved by order of operations, but that didn't do it. By order of operations, it does seem that, at least on the face of it with the sliders in the strategy screen, that it is best to start with the major leagues, and before adding any other leagues to specify the year in BOTH the financial and strategy screens. When you do this, the other leagues appear to have the same set up as the major leagues. And the box to "Automatically control in-game engine to match league statistics (only recommended for minors) is checked. The sliders all look the same etc. If you set the year after adding minors, etc., it looks like you would to go in and set the strategy year manually for each league. Anyway, I set up a test league this morning, it only takes about 20 mins to sim a whole year with the AI in control of all teams. The same things happened. HR look fine in the majors, but the league leaders in minors are 46, 53, and 60. I have checked that each minor league has the year 1902 for "Totals from year" in the strategy window, and all the entries look the same in each league. I guess it could be that the pitching is just so bad that they can't help but hit homers, but that doesn't seem right. I'm at a loss to understand what is going on.
