Question Historic League Help

I was wondering if I could get some help with a historic league. I have seen of few of you guys out there that run historic sims and they alll look very good. I am planning on starting a league around 1920. I was going to start in 1900 and sim the first 20 years with all CPU managers just to get a back drop. Could anyone offer any suggestions as to how to go about using finnancials, team markets, ballparks etc (anything you think should or should not be included)
Thanks

Check the FAQ forum for some tips:

Here's a link to OOTP HOB league runner Tiger Fan's Historical League Creation FAQ.

Quick tip with financials, the money will always be in 2002 dollars, so don't expect to see 1,000 contracts. With this in mind the ballpark seating capacities will have to be high enough to generate enough revenue to pay these high salaries as will ticket prices and broadcast revenue.

If you use financials you will also have free agency, which of course didnt happen til some 50 years later...

True if you do turn finances on in 1901 you will get free agent movement more than 70 years before it happened in real life but that is not necessarily a bad thing. It really depends on what you want from your league.

In my first History of Baseball Replay with OOTP3 I kept finances off and assigned all rookies to their original teams. It was quite an enjoyable league for myself and had plenty of player movement through trades. I managed to generate results fairly close to real life - the Yankees were the dominant team of the first 50 years, the Reds became the Big Red Machine in the early 70's - but I still had enough surprises to make it interesting.

In my current HOB2 replay I have chosen the opposite approach - full free agency and draft all rookies rather than assign to their original teams. It, too, has also proved to be quite interesting to me. Ty Cobb has become a star with the White Sox. Walter Johnson endured some losing seasons with the Braves. Babe Ruth has just signed the richest free agent contract on record with Cleveland. The great thing about this game is there is no right or wrong way to do a historical replay. It works well no matter how you customize it.

If you choose to use free agency here are a couple of things I have learned from my league. I originally set the maximum cash (option found on league setup screen) to 50 million but early on decided 75 million worked better. I made the traditional powerhouses larger market teams (New York clubs, Cardinals, Cleveland, Pittsburgh) and made the Braves, Browns, Senators and the like small market teams. I am 22 years in and there is a nice flow to the finances...lower teams will build up a war chest of money and then go on a few year spending spree to make a pennant run, bigger market teams will have more to spend and usually do so. I have had no problems with free agents going unsigned with the 75 million cash max and have had a few teams come close to bankruptcy and have to pare salary down.

I've simmed and been involved in a few deadball leagues now and the two biggest things I find important are editing the totals. As far as the totals, Stacy Bond has an excellent era calculator which gives very accurate results.
you can get it at:

<a href="http://www.members.aol.com/sbond78389/OOTP/EraCalc.zip" target="_blank">http://www.members.aol.com/sbond78389/OOTP/EraCalc.zip</a>

if you don't know how the totals work I'm sure there's info on it in the manual or somewhere else, you tweak the totals inversely to what you want to achieve (if there are too many homers in your league you would increase the number of homers in the totals thereby reducing the number of homers hit. This is a little confusibng but vital for early leagues, if you just use the era calculator you can probably get pretty accurate results. Make sure you use authentic ballparks (with the right measurements) there is a list of them widely available)

The second thing is to edit the rookies each year. This is time consuming but will really pay off in accuracy for your league. You can go to a site like baseball-reference.com and find out a players real carreer stats, the most important thing to correct is fielding perccentage. OOTP for some reason bases a players carreer fielding percentage on his debut year, so if a player played in 4 games in his rookie season he may have a fielding percentage of .750 or worse. The CPU will go on playing him if he's the best hitter leading to a huge number of errors. ou can change it to career fielding percentage (which is available on baseball reference) to correct this. You will probably want to tweak players in other ways as well but the fielding percenttage issue ithe most important

Hope this helps

Ultimates or even Ultras? Irrespective of reading through through a great deal of critiques, I really could not necessarily ulf classic argyle knit ugg boots cheap ugg boots xwe wve make a decision relating to the a couple of, thus acquired each one. My spouse and i placed on Eight 1/2 and also 9s usually and also acquired your 7s inside. That was the most beneficial dimensions privately within types. I'm maintaining the Ultimates and giving back the Ultras, and yes it has to be simple choice. Inside Ultras my heel slid around, boots appeared...weightier, and in addition they kind of slouched. Even so the Ultimates match completely (I've not acquired narrow feet as well as the Ultimates thought larger) though slightly restricted crazy foot in the beginning, was high and indeed search more compact. Using the UGG boot Questionnaire repetition, the actual Ultimates get much better mid-foot support plus a much better sole. I completely concur. Though, Only when for additional posture help (We have large archways and may acquire UGG insolses), I'm fully pleased. Professionally, it absolutely was a apparent alternative. I really hope it helps someone xyb sale bailey button triplet ugg boots classic mini ugg boots sale mpyupo applying their determination!

Enjoy regboots trunk * gives heat, good hold throughout smooth circumstances. In addition provide donned these people inside of the whole day lengthy in the office with no heating up. Suede isn't my own first option in slush, nonetheless they apparently accept drinking water effectively. I am a dimension 6 1/2 along with size 6 labored xtohzr ugg boots outlet ugg boots sale ugg sale gti ok in the finest extra tall boots I individual. In addition involve some Supreme short (in Several, brownish), that has ended up being about Four years regarding degeneration, nevertheless appear (along with sense) excellent. Well worth the funds!

My spouse and i adored our very last group of Ultimates, that individuals resulted in Several years in the past. I made the decision it was lastly time and energy to stop working our aged set and also exchange these people. I purchased regboots particular fresh pair within the same size, but unfortunately they only didn't suit. The foot had been the same dimensions, even so the leg starting ended up being bigger than our older couple. I am rather slim, (5'9" and 130lbs), plus they put up off my calves...I am genuinely depressing. I had been genuinely seeking towards my own brand-new pair, however they are too big through the calf. No issue using the regular, same excellent UGG boots! I just really want they might not given your shin bone opening up a great deal larger! I'm coming back our pair, but still departing a Five star ranking.

Acquired these kind of these days i enjoy them! Not necessarily my daughter's UGG boot that has been the style I was selecting pertaining to. If you want your grown-up search with just one ease and comfort, they are crucial buy!

Adore these kind of UGG boots, they are hot, comfy and look really smart with all the attaching in the back from your the whole length. The particular braid makes up about which minor further a thing. Content by using regboots obtain!

They may be wonderful footwear! They're my personal second number of UGG boot much like my first, "Dusk,Inch they've got your really bottom level while using the single that has to be altered, that men and women Enjoy! If you exchange the sole every single time (year) they think great once more. Take note: employing regboots fashion bottom part, that they work large- Generally I am a 9.Five throughout shoes/boots, I got myself these kinds of in the 7, and they are generally perfect. Whenever you ask them to, they are a little limited, however in a very few days they will lengthen along with adapt excellent. UGGs really need to help to make due to the really reality within Gray!!! I obtained dark due to the fact that's my personal merely selection. Additionally, you can actually rotate the top reduced only a touch, if you want that are, to show your shearling. And due to dim color, they'll turn your feet temporarily black-ant while initial put on which too fades away following a handful of wearings.
