Why I love this game...

My Oakland Rockets advanced to the 2021 World Series and faced the Atlanta Firebirds, who led the league with 111 wins.

Well, the Rockets quickly lost the first three games and I was already making my plans to dump half this team in the offseason before they came alive to win the next three games and send the Series to a seventh game.

I had the ace of my staff, Ricardo Mojica, all set to pitch. He was a midseason call-up and went 15-1, losing only his last start in a meaningless game in September.

He shuts down the Firebirds over the first three innings and in the top of the fourth, the Rockets get a two-out, two-run double by Steve Tesch to take the lead.

Mojica shuts down the Firebirds until the sixth when the scratch out a run. They score again in the 8th to tie it. After a scoreless ninth, we're headed to extra innings in the seventh game of the World Series. What could be better?

The Rockets get a one-out double from Juan Mendoza in the top of the 10th, but can't advance him any further.

Our closer, Pedro Luna, takes over in the bottom half of the inning and quickly gets the first two outs. Im already checking my lineup card to see who's up for us next inning but the Firebirds shortstop Tim Noble rips a double down the left field line. With the Atlanta crowd pleading for a hit, Ivan Carrillo comes through with a seeing-eye single through the left side of the infield that scores Noble with the Series-winning run.

A disappointing but exciting end to my Rockets season...

I couldn't find anyplace else to put this and didn't think it worthy of its own thread.

In my fictional league in its second season, the single-game record for strikeouts is 13. My stud, sub-2.00 ERA pitcher goes in and breaks the record, not by one, not by two, but by FIVE. He put up 18 strikeouts....in 7.2 IP. It is safe to say he will not see free agency.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

Ever since I started playing OOTP, baseball video games appear dull to me. Frankly, all games appear dull (though I was never really much of a gamer to begin with). Out of the Park Baseball is every baseball nerds dream.

It's an insult to compare this game to any other baseball program on the market.

Actually not; on a season-replay basis Diamond Mind is quite good.

It's certainly the best platfom for fictional sports play I've ever experienced.
