Difference between Salaries overview and Player Contract

Hi there so I am new to the game so trying to find myself around.

One thing that I am confused about. I have selected to start the game controlling the Reds.

In the salaries overview it shows Votto with a contract all the way up to 2021.

I then click on Votto and select his Contract tab and it says he is contracted and signed up through 2013 (Arbitration.) I would have expected to have seen the contract through to 2021 as it shows in the Salaries overview.

For example Brandon Phillips shows 6 years in the salaries overview and also the same in his own contract creen, so not sure why Votto's does not?

Maybe I am missing something here.

Thanks.

I do not play ML, fiction only, so I am taking shots in the dark.

What are Votto's ML years? If they are under 1 then he has 3 years at league minimum and 3 years of Abr before free agency. That is my 1st guess.

Does he have any years listed in his contract tab? I have read about option years not being displayed in the contract tab. If he has a contract loaded with option years, sounds weird to me, then they might not be displayed.

I do not know what is displayed if you go into commish mode and look at his contract. You may get more info there.

Not sure about that particular player - did he recently sign a long extension? If so it would be listed on the right side of the contract page and it can be missed.

Yeah, Votto just signed a ten year extension to stay a Red. So, what you see is correct.
He had one more arbitration year left prior to his last....then signed a short extension...then signed his longer extension one year later.
