Active Roster Question

Hi,

I have a question with the different rosters in Baseball. In my active roster I have got 25 players and in the secondary roster are the 25 from the first one and 15 other guys (minor league players and bench players).

So, it is impossible for me to change easily from the active to the secondary. I want to change some guys only between the 25 roster and the 40 roster. I don't want to assign them to minor teams only to the secondary. Only changes not more.

Could you give me a solution for my problem? I am a newbie in Baseball sports.

Thank you for your answer

Best regards

Cedric

You have your 40 man roster, which encompasses the 25 players on the the active roster plus any others who you might have on your 40 man. You cannot switch guys around the way you're thinking. They are either on the 25 man active roster, or they are in the minors.

If you look closely at the 40 man roster, you will see every player on it is either on the 25 man roster, in the minors, on the DL, or in the process of being waived/DFA'd.

To be honest I found the 40 man roster to be very confusing when I started OOTP, even though I was familiar with baseball. In some games I have even turned it off in options because without it it is a ton easier to move players around between the minors, DL, and the active roster.

Keep in mind this is not an OOTP thing. It is a Baseball Rule. Moving players around is not supposed to be easy.

You can turn off or alter a lot of rules in OOTP. That is a significant feature for some. However if you want the challenge of managing a baseball organization the rules and restrictions inherent to the sport must be managed too. If that means losing a prospect or two and/or eating a contract, that is exactly what RL GM's do every day.

YMMV

Well to be fair, it's not a baseball rule in general, it's a Major League Baseball rule - if I am playing a fictional league involving different countries, etc, I don't feel obligated to follow the same rules that MLB uses.

Agreed but nit picking aside I doubt very much if any significant league has unlimited player movement and/or no roster limits.

Gonna nit pik too - bad choice of words.

I agree with the gist of what you're saying, except the highlighted part. I only play fictional and I often modify many rules that can be modified in OOTP. The challange of managing a baseball organization is still quite prevailant.

Again - Lots of my fictional worlds have this or no movement at all. That's the beauty of OOTP, your baseball world can be as real or off the wall as you like

My answer was in relation to the OP and another post referencing 40 man rosters and movement associated with that. So although your point and Peregrines are technically correct they are nitpicking wrt 40 man rosters active roster minors etc.

As I already said YMMV.
