Creating Own League

Hi, I'm new here and new to OOTP games full stop.

I'm from Australia and I know a little about baseball, I did play it one year as a junior, but I'm not up with management type games. I'm interested in playing games and seeing the result. I run my own forum which has a number of fantasy sim sports. We currently do AFL (Aussie Rules Football) and Cricket which is done from a simulated game and we post the commentary, this is what I want to do with baseball too.

What I want to do is create my own League of probably 6 teams, don't know if I want or need divisions. But with those 6 teams I want to be able to create or add my own players, for example my name would be collingwood. And be able to create bot type players, such as Babe Ruth or something like that if we can't fill the teams. Not sure if you can select the type of players either.

And once I have the league and players I want to play a season and then copy the commentary and stats and standings so I can post on my forum.

1. Is this possible and if so how to I go about it?
2. If it's possible and difficult for me to do, would someone else be able to do it for me?

You can do that. Once the league is made, it will be populated, by default, with completely fictional players. You can then add as many as you want (or delete as many as you want), and go from there.

For examples of what you're looking to do with it, look in the dynasty reports forum here, as that is essentially what they all are.

Let me know if you get stuck setting it up and I (or someone else) will be glad to help. Start with the Create Custom Game option on the main screen.

Collingwood...you could download the ABL quickstart from here
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-facegens.html

I use the ABL in 2010 and have since 2005 (in my league 2010 IRL) and I love it. Sydney Blue Sox, Perth Heat etc.

If you want to create your own league it is really easy to do also.

Thanks for that, I will have a look at that

I've created a League, but I want each team to play 2 games per week over 15 weeks and then have play offs, how do I go about setting that up on the schedule?

To do that, you'd have to manually edit the schedule, or use a custom schedule file (might be one in the Mods section of the site).

I've never fiddled with schedules at all myself. From what I've read, it's not too hard, but possibly time consuming.

If you download the ABL league and open it up in game then go to League Menu - Advanced - League Setup _ Edit League Schedule and export the ABL's schedule. It is accurate for the 2011 or 2012 season. I know it only has them playing a few games per week for 2-3 months.

Otherwise check out this to see if there is something else that fits.

You can always edit one, but it can be tedious.

I'm having problems with the schedule. Does it play games every day? I wanted a start day of the 1st of July 2012 and thinking there would be 1 game per weekend or something like that. Also if I play a season does it save it automatically? Can I go ahead and see the end result and then go back and see any game and results?

The above mentioned ABL plays November? - February?

If you want to start July 1st set the options to have the season start July 1st and if you want say a 3 month schedule choose say 75 or more games then manually delete the game you want so the teams only play a few games a week.
When you create new game you will see Game Options next to Create New Game. On that screen you can edit how often you want it to save. Default is yearly January 1st. I do almanac's in 3 of my 5 leagues so I can go back and see what the standings were for a particular day or check stats injury logs and what not. If you don;t set up an almanac you can not check those things. I forgot which screen during advanced mode (Game Options is also on Advanced) the almanac is on but you an set that up after league creation also. Just so you know, almanac creation even with minimal options picked takes me 3+ hrs to create Jan 1st.
