Active Roster Question
I have a pitcher on my active roster that is not performing well and would like to bring another pitcher in from my secondary roster. The problem is that the guy I want to remove has the right to refuse demotion to the minors, which he is doing. I don't want to actually trade or release the player, so what options do I have to get him off my active roster? I can't figure one out and wondered if I was just stuck with him in my active roster?

If he's refusing demotion about the only choices you have are trade him or release him.

Couldn't you also DFA him and hope he passes waivers?

You can move him to your minors but it is not within OOTPs approximation of the MLB roster rules.
Go into commissioner mode and put him wherever you want.

I do not think there is such a thing as cheating in a solo game.

All depends on how important it is to you, and how much integrity you want to maintain in your game world. If the game allows such options, even in commissioner mode, you could consider it, but with a balance and penalty that makes sense to you and that environment. Bluenoser's right on, your choices straight up are limited. But if you elect to go the 'do what you want' path, I'd suggest a storyline or news article created to support it, along with perhaps a negotiated contract extension or a flat-out cash penalty paid outright to the player to 'persuade' him to accomodate your decision. Or maybe put him on the trading block, ride it out, put a timetable on a turnaround and agree that, if his talents haven't returned to expections, you DO trade him or release him. It's your world, your league, and you'll have to make tough choices; not the least of which is what rules you want to govern your own actions. I'd only add that if you choose to skirt the official rules, your penalty is such that it's as sufferable or more than having kept within their boundaries.
