Want to play as a new team with current rosters (expansion)

Looking at getting into this but want to start from the ground up with current players.

I'd like to manage the first season of a brand new team, using a realistic expansion draft. Can you determine all the aspects of your new team (city, name, etc)?

Also, what in your opinion is the best way to do this to keep the divisions somewhat equal? With the current 2013 format, all the divisions would be equal, but then I would be adding one team in which could muck up the works I suppose.

Thoughts?

1) Yes, you can determine all the aspects of your new team.

2) The best way to expand would be to add an expansion team in each league so that both are at 16 teams - adding just one team would create serious scheduling headaches, as there would have to always be one team not playing during a given 3-4 day span (unless you want it that way for some reason). You may wish to realign each league into four 4-team division, as well, similar to the NFL's structure. But that's not as important as making sure the overall number of teams isn't an odd number.

You have to simulate a full season before you can expand your league and run an expansion draft. Keep this in mind.

Is there something different in v.13? Because I had no problem running an expansion draft before a current season.

However, to make it work it's necessary to change the schedule and regenerate it, pushing back opening day a week or so, before scheduling the expansion draft.

Also, to expand (no pun intended) on eriq's comments, having odd divisions (say 8 teams in one and 7 in another) doesn't make any problems that I've seen. Except the aesthetic one he mentions, in that the auto-scheduler will leave in 3 day "bye periods" here and there. It has no game effect.

I should have clarified that this applies to historical leagues with real expansion. I suppose you can manually expand your fictional or MLB league, but you have to jump through a few hoops, and that's not ideal for everybody.
