Isolating text within a file

Here is what I'm trying to do... I'm working with the schools.txt file and I want to Isolate the schools state by state saving each to a unique text file for my reference.

Is there a tool in Open Office that could allow me to do such a thing? such as deleting lines that do not contain a text string?

It's probably possible to write a macro to do it, but I'm not sure it would be that easy to do.
