iTunes share

In iTunes share, I see the following folders:

- config
- help
- saved_games
- tables_ipad

If I want to add logos, where do I place them?

Game looks fantastic on the iPad!

Please don't think iTunes share is a full explorer like you now it from other systems. You can't navigate folders, you can't even add stuff to existing folders (or add a folder). Basically you can only add/remove files to/from the root documents folder which is pretty pointless in our case as we can't store all files without a folder structure. But maybe Apple will improve the feature someday. Up until then you can copy your save_folder to your computer (in case you want to move it to another device or I ask you for a save file to find a bug).

Palli,

Will you be providing more detailed instructions on how to make the transfer? Some of us are not as computer literate as others. I am certainly not in the literate category.

What do you want to transfer or edit?

For me, it would be the logos.

Any instructions that would help clarify how to move, ahem, other types of files (txt, for example) would be helpful too.

By the way, this game looks FANTASTIC! I haven't had time yet to actually sit down and play out a game, but from what I can see, it's a real improvement over 2011.

Thanks for all your hard work on this.

Ah. So we can't share logos through our iPhone/iPad only on the pc to iDevice?

There are a couple of ways to transfer custom logos to the iPhone or iPad.

One way to do it is to use iExplorer (Mac or PC). iExplorer gives you access to the Apps directory--including the iOOTP 12 folder. With this kind of access, you can swap out anything in the application folder, replacing it with your own files. (Keep in mind you do need iTunes 10 or higher installed for iExplorer to work.)

This procedure is not officially supported, and OOTP cannot give you explicit instructions--Apple prohibits it.

For the iTunes sharing feature, you can also gain access to folders in the iOOTP application directory, but (at least for me) there is no obvious way that I can see to work with the files (ie, replace them) that reside in the directories that iTunes sharing gives you access to.

I'm hoping that OOTP can comment on how to do that, since this is an Apple supported feature.

For some, it may be that iExplorer is the easier way to do this, especially if you want to tinker with directories that are not included with the iTunes sharing option.

But OOTP cannot officially comment on that, I don't think.

We submitted an 2011 update to Apple 2 weeks before we submitted the 2012 version, but for the first time (10th update) it got rejected for non-technical reasons. We are still sorting things out but it is a long process as answers from Apple take ages and most of the time we got some standard answers that have nothing to do with the "problem". I even had a call with the review guy and now we have to appeal to some Apple court (still waiting for the link we can send our case in).

Long story short: as soon as the 2011 update is cleared I will update the process of transferring here: Link

The most important part: do not buy the seasons again, it will be sorted out in the near future.

OK, I did see that link and have no problem waiting. I just get nervous about tech stuff since I'm not great at these things and I am in the middle to the end of some great seasons in 2011 and don't want to mess them up on transfer.

By the way, I love the side by side boxscores in the new set up!

Can someone share a more detailed explanation of how to replace the logos? I tried replacing them in one of my saved games with the pack of logos shared on the iOOTP mods forum (using iExplorer) and I couldn't get it to work. Thanks in advance.

Ok, we talk about two different things at the moment:

1. The transfer I talk about is the information which season you purchased in 2011 and how to transfer the information so you can unlock them in the 2012 version.

2. You want to transfer one (or more) save games to the new game and continue them in the new version. That is possible (a beta tester did this, just let me double check with him) but you need a 3rd party tool to make the data transfer.

I will write a small tutorial how to do it and post it in our FAQ section. Should be available by tomorrow.

I'm going to assume that you're using iExplorer. If you are, do this:
  1. In the Apps folder, locate the iOOTP 12 directory
  2. In the iOOTP 12 directory, locate the "documents" folder
  3. In the "documents" folder, look for "saved games"
  4. In the "saved games" folder, look for the "images" folder using this path: "news/html/images"
  5. Inside the "images" folder you'll see the logos generated by the game. Note the names of these files, eg., "san_francisco_giants.png"
  6. Rename your team logos so that they match the exact spelling of the logo files in the "images" folder
  7. Copy your custom logos to the "images" folder--iExplorer will ask if you really want to do this (for each individual file replacement). Click "Yes".
  8. Quite the game if you had it running.
  9. Re-start the game
  10. The logos should appear. If they don't, there's a spelling mis-match between your files and what the game expects. Or you have used the wrong image file format (eg., jpg instead of png). Or, you accidentally dropped the files into the wrong directory. But it should work. I've tested it myself with good results.

That should do it. iExplorer is a wonderful free thing.
